In the book, How To Be Like Walt, the author specifically mentions that the one way you DON'T want to be like Walt is by being a chain smoker like he was. It killed him much too soon.

Yes, he was a Republican, and was also accused of being a Communist. That one always amazed me. He would have been a pretty crummy Communist if he really was one. ;)

A Republican then is different than a Republican now. :)

Of course it is, the whole world is different now. So what do you think, if Walt were alive today, would he register to any party?

you know the names on the windows when you're going down mainstreet? on the right side (I believe) walts name is on the second story of the last window of the buildings. It is the only one facing the castle.

You think if Walt were alive he wouldnt still be a conservative? With the dream he had for his parks, and the standards he imposed for dress codes for his employees?? And it's been discussed many times, the Republicans only care about big business' and their money...

He'd still be a Republican - IMO

:confused3 Why does everyone say the word "Republican" like its a nasty word or something? Believe it or not, there are quite a few Republicans on this board.

I dont know...

On that note - how about weird, strange things about Walt? We all know Elvis loved fried PB & (WHERE DID THE DANCING BANANA GO?!?!) sandwichs? What did Walt munch on? Did he stay up late? Where did he go on vacation? (no Disneyworld to go to, just yet)

Walt was rumoured to be a pædophile, anti-semetic and frozen in a cryogenic freezer. These rumours didn't pan out.

For those interested, Walt lies in the ground. Eisner, the (former) CEO of Disney, mad it into a personal quest to find Walt's grave and (I think) he was successful.

He's still there 4th row across , 5th one down.

There was racism and anti-semitism in his cartoons back in the day. I guess you've never seen the ones where Donald is dressed up as a Nazi, or when Mickey is using a cigarette lighter with a swastika on the side.

I agree, some things are just so stupid you have to laugh! ;) :teeth:
It was stupid that there used to be racist/ anti- semitic content in his cartoons? I certainly thought so.
Personally, I found it to be an interesting fact regarding Walt Disney, and since this was a thread about facts I thought I'd post about it.

But Holly, you must remember that the "facts" are different for Dumbya supporters; I.E. WMD "let's send our kids to get killed and kill other kids".

Yep, I'm SURE that's what Disney had in mind making his parks; the innocent slaughter of people and children (including the children that joined our military for the GI bill, yet found themselves in a needless war, then their parents found out that the dream of college was gone, forever, when they got "the visit" from a higher ranking official).

I'm SURE Walt would be a republican now.

There seems to be some basis to the Walt Disney antisemitic charges and I know some Jews who refuse to go near anything Disney. Clearly the company which was run for what,20 years by the Jewish Michael Eisner, has not embraced whatever antisemitic ideas it's founder did or did not have.

Oh puhleez! This thread was titled "Walt was a Republican" and you posted that to be snarky towards republicans....let's not pretend innocence and pixie dust when that wasn't the intent. :)
