MR trip reports

Thanks for the update, Susie22. It's such a bummer AP didn't work for you -- I will be really disappointed if that happens to us.

It sounds like DCL still hasn't worked out some of the kinks.

I'll be interested to hear more.

We had a great times at MR cruise. The housekeeping is very nice. Our Servers is very nice. They know what is our favorite. My daughter don't like the pasta with cream sauce, I asked them to make marinara sauce and we got what we want. Someone asked to get the dessert from the other night and from different restaurant, they got it. Our servers is good with the kids too. At lunch on buffet time, They saw me with a lot of plate on my hand,( my daughter is to young to hold her food) They help me to bring it for them.

Our daughter had fun on the oceaneer. its fast to put them in and out there. When we going to Cabo for second time, we put our daughter there. We told them that my kids wanna go to switch from lab to club at some event, they put her. we dont to worry that she will get bored or hungry, they help her with lunch too....

We plan to go on Fantasy on 2012. hhmmm thinking for Alaska cruise too.. since its kids sail for free promo on May 2011....

We're on the Feb 13 MR cruise. Can you tell us what night Pirate Night was? Did they still call it Pirates in the Caribbean night (since the ship isn't in the Caribbean?)

It seems every cruise we go on, we read trip reports afterwards that sound as though those passengers couldn't possibly have been on the same cruise.

Hope DCL gets things figured out at the LA port by the time we get there. Luckily for us we have a Disney-booked whale watch excursion on the second day at Cabo so we'll let the DCL crew member leading it worry about getting us on the tenders. The first day in Cabo (since we aren't doing anything organized) we'll wait until the first mad tender rush dies down (this worked for us in Grand Cayman, too).

Hope some other folks on the MR cruise chime in...inquiring minds want to know!

We returned home yesterday from a week on the "Wonder"ful :) We had an absolutely fantastic vacation!. We got lots of rest, were pampered, enjoyed wonderful meals, excellent entertainment, great service and had an all around "magical" time! We made some great new friends as well :) The staff were so friendly and great with the kids. Ours kids, aged 3 and 5, LOVED the Oceaneers Club and so did we! My husband and I got to spend some quality time together while the kids had a great time making new friends, meeting characters and having lots of fun in the Oceaneers Club. The counsellors were great and greeted our children by their names by the second day they went in. We never waited in a line to check our children in and to get them out was max. 5 mins. It did seem that there were long lines around lunch time or before dinner, I suppose from parents trying to get their kids out for meals. The Club does service a light lunch (also a dinner) so we didn't take our kids our for lunch as they eat better around other children and some times when we went to get them out for something, they didn't want to go and their response was "no we don't want to go, we're having way too much fun". Yes, the line up was long to get on to the tender to Cabo, but it was our choice, we didn't have to wait if we didn't want to. Some people we talked to waited until 1:00 to disembark and there was no line up. The longest lines were for the characters, our kids didn't want to wait...They enjoyed meeting Mickey and the gang at the character breakfast. The theatre shows were great and the entertainers were really funny, especially the adult shows at 10:30 in Wavebands. They were hilarious. Words cannot describe what an amazing time it was. I would not hesitate to go on another Disney cruise, in fact, when I got home I checked the disney cruise website for specials, and saw that they have a "kids sail free" promotion on to Alaska, a promotion we took advantage of on the MR cruise, so we are contemplating going and meeting up again with the great staff we met on the Wonder. If you're looking for a get-away where you don't want to rush or worry about anything, a Disney cruise is definitely the way to go!!! pirate:

3) OK, so we're on 8:15 dining with our 10 kids on east coast time. Fine. But when we get there they have two tables set up for us (despite the fact that I counted no fewer than 5 tables in the restaurant that were large enough for our party -- most of which had people together that were not in the same party). But the tables were not even NEXT to each other (and yes, our reservations were completely linked, so they knew we were one party)! When we asked about moving someplace so we could at least be close to each other we were told, no way, couldn't be done. We ate at animator's palate three times this cruise, maybe the other person was on early dining, so maybe it worked for them? But for us the first time it kept starting to change color and then stopping and trying to restart. The server told us they were having technical difficulties. There was no music at all. Finally they got it to change color, but it was not the transition it was supposed to be. They just turned all the color on all of a sudden. The whole rest of the cruise it stayed completely black and white, so we never got the show the way it was supposed to be. We were told it was just broken.

.

Just so you are aware, the black and white to color show only happens ( or should have happened) on your first visit to AP. The show is not on every visit.

I am sorry you did not get to experience the wonderful service and staff that we have in the past. I think sometimes when your .... Very expensive ....vacation starts out on a sour note, like the way you were treated at the port, it can make every thing that is not perfect.... Well, less then enjoyable.
I'm so surprised your tables were not together if the ressies were linked. That would be disappointing for sure.

Our colour show in AP happened the second night. Our first night in AP was B&W. But it made the second night even more exciting, in my opinion as you didn't expect it because it didn't happen the first night. Of course the most magical part for me was when Sorcerer Mickey arrived!!! :) :smickey:

The party it said "the Pirate in caribbean night" at goofy pool
There will be a lot of food and dessert at that party. I think the best spot is on the beverage side..... the fire work will be in the other side of ship.

Thanks for the info. I will be sailing on the 13th and my kids are the same age as yours and wondering if there was chaos in the kids club with them no longer split up by age group?

TIA

Susie22,

You mentioned your daughter loving the Edge tween club? Is there a dedicated area for this on the ship now like the Magic has? Disney has not given a straight answer on when this would be completed on the Wonder so I am curious what the set up is.

The Edge has bee up and running o the Wonder since mid December now.:thumbsup2

Someone posted pics on here..... I'll see if I can find the post. The Edge is for ages 11to 13.

Susie22 and RVD90277,
I would like to thank you both for your insite. This will be our first Disney cruise however, we have cruised with many other cruise lines. I hope the service gets better because this cruise will determine if we will be Disney cruisers or not. If my husband loves the cruise then we will be sold (I am already a Disney nut). One important aspect will be the food and service. We will not be back if the food is not good to great and the service is what we have come to expect from Disney. Disney's entertainment is always top notch and we expect it to be consistant on the cruise. It saddens me to hear so many negative comments about the Wonder these last few weeks I "Wonder" why the stark contrast? Anyways, thanks once again for you honest opinion.
Jeanne

I wonder that myself...we were on the Wonder on her trip from the Atlantic to the pacific just two weeks ago, and everything (including the food) was excellent! Cabo tendering was a ZERO minute wait, as we waited about an hour after tendering started. Kid check-in and out was zero minute wait, but then again we only had something like 275 kids on the Panama Canal cruise.

I hope Disney gets a handle on things, we had a great time on the MR leg of our trip, and have booked a 7-night MR cruise in September!

So strange...

Woo hoo! Thank you for this information. My daughter will be thrilled. I had been following a thread about it and as of the 1st week of Jan, no one could confirm. Anyone care to share anything else about it?

The Edge on the Wonder is a (new) dedicated area:

wideeyedwonder, thank you for the pictures! I just showed my daughter, age 11, and she loved them! She is so happy to have an area where her little sisters (6 & 3) can not follow her. She is a great big sis but she deserves a little space.

First timer question about tendering. We have an excursion planned everyday through Disney. Where do you meet the guide , on the ship or at the pier after tendering? If the tour starts at 9:15, do we need to plan on starting the tender process 90 minutes early according to some of the posts I am reading.
Thanks

If you are doing a DCL excursion you will get a ticket that says what time and place to meet for that particular excursion.
