Mr. Potato Head?

I ASKED a CM to help me fill the box and she was only too happy to work with me and maximize the number of pieces I could buy. I would not have thought to BEND certain pieces to fit in the potato, but she did and they came out unscathed.

Some one posted about the new Disney Store in NYC having New York-themed Mr. Potato Head pieces and I can't stop thinking about them and trying to figure out who I know who can get them for me!! Its a sickness.

About the non-Disney potato... I, uh, I mean my 4yo, ;) has one non-Disney and a couple Disney potatoes. The non-Disney one fits the parts, but the sockets for the arms must be a little bigger because when the arm is holding some of the accessories they fall down. This doesn't happen with the Disney potatoes.

I have filled three boxes (two of those with a potato) and I have all but 3-4 parts, with duplicates of certain smaller parts.

It's a lot of fun to fill and as a bonus my 4yo enjoys playing with it! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

My DD4's ps class has a few potato heads so I am bringing back a box of parts as a classroom gift. I can't wait!!

I was just at Christmas Tree Shop and they have Mr and Mrs for $5 each. The also have the little potato's in a cute barn shapped carrying case for $7.

Look on ebay for the NY Mr Potato head pieces, they are listed with pictures. One is a little subway map!

We will be staying at Pop Century. Does the Once Upon a Toy Store have a better selection than Pop Century? I guess I want to know would it be worth it to make a special trip to DTD. We may go there anyway, but if we run short on time I am trying to decide whether or not to make this a priority. Also, I was looking at some pictures from the Once Upon a Toy Store and I saw a selection of tinker toys. I could not read the sign, but I noticed they also had parts in bins. Does anyone know, is this also a fill your bag and, if so, how much? We did something similar to this once at a museum, only it went by weight. My "kids" now 17 and 23 figured it out to exact amount to get the most for their money. I think they would love these as their souvenir from Disney. We aren't planning on buying souvenirs and the trip is their Christmas present, but would love to have one thing as a memory.

It is on the same lines as the potato head...you can fill a box for XXX amount of dollars...not sure the price though...maybe someone can help here???

We did this on our recent trip too, because of the info I saw on these boards it was a must do on my list, and I'm 32! (at least I can use the excuse that it's for my son...)

I bought the starter Potato head kit on the shelf, and then filled the box with all the other parts and made sure that it closed properly. When I went to pay, the CM opened the box back up and said "go get some more" to which I replied "it's full, I can't get anymore in" and she said "don't worry, I can make more fit!"

Also, there is a carousel display to the left that sells a much more limited selection of mini potato head parts and bodies.

Can't wait to do it again...do they frequently add to the selection of parts available?

Hello! We just got back from disney this week and we also did the PH thing. We had no problems with any CMs whatsoever at DTD. Our box wasn't even closed and bulging at the sides and falling out the bottom and they couldn't care less!:teeth: It really is a cute thing to do with your kids. Ours are 4 and 18 months and really enjoy the toy.

Forgot to say to look at the dumbo that you have to buy separately. I couldn't resist! He is so cute and only $5!

last time we were at Once Upon a Toy in Downtown Disney, I was looking for the tinker toys, as I had done the Mr. Potato Head the time before. They had discontinued the tinker toys but we did all you can stuff Lincoln Logs instead. This was in April.

Is the dumbo a potato head accessory??

Can you post a picture?

Thanks,

Susan

The Dumbo is a large base for Potato Head--Mr Potato Head to you ;) ! It's very cute and I think costs $5--I have it on my list for one of my next trips.

Can anybody tell me if the yellow raincoat for Mr.PH is sold seperately(saw a picture of it on the link above)Thanks

Yes, the raincoat is separate -- I believe it was $5 like Dumbo - - its a molded vinyl piece.

Can some one please send me a link to photos of the NYC exclusive pieces? I tried ebay and could not find anything.

Thank you!
