Hi! My DH and I are taking our 2 yr. old DD to DL for the first time this summer. :yay: While doing my research (it's been 10 years since either of us have been out that way...we typically stick to WDW) I discovered the Mr. Potato Head pieces.

Does anyone know if I need a newer Mr. PH or if the older versions of him will work. Also, does anyone know exactly where I can find them when I do get to DLR?

Thank you!

Hi! There is a toy store to the right once you enter DCA. They have a huge selection of Mr. P and all his pieces. You can buy a new potato head and fill it with as many pieces as you can without overflowing the box for about $20. pirate:

We did this in 09 & I was looking forward to getting the kids new pieces on my last trip.......it was all the same stuff.....nothing new at all. I was very disappointed! :sad2:

Don't buy a Potato Head there! Just buy a box and stuff it with all the pieces--then bring the pieces home and see if they'll fit in the head you already have at home (they probably will) if not, go buy a generic head at Target. That's what I did and it worked just fine.

We have done this twice. We did it the first time in 2008 and filled a box with Disney specific Potatohead pieces. Then we went back in 2010 and were able to fill another box with new pieces--no duplicates! :)

You don't need to buy a new mr potato head, you can use an old one. DS has one that was a hand-me-down from his cousins who are 12 years older than him and it works fine with the DLR potato head pieces.

We bought the giant potato head from Disney, but bought the potato head before. You can get just the box and fill it with pieces. When filling the boxes or head remember to match the pieces up, some smaller pieces fit into bigger pieces and check the arms to make sure you have pairs. As long as the box closes you are good to go :thumbsup2. We had a fantastic time with the potato head pieces.

Good point about the arms. Also, even though mr. potato head comes with arms, you will need to buy the disney ones in order to hold the objects available at DLR so make sure to include arms in your box.

I am surprised you did not see him at WDW - their PH station is right at the front of Once Upon a Toy.

I second (or third) the arms thing - they are the first thing kids lose and the Disney ones are the only ones that hold the Disney items (there are Mickey balloons, suitcase, food etc) so make sure to get a couple of pairs.

The trick to fit as much as possible into the box is to fit small things into bigger ones ;) There are also pieces (like the suitcase) that open up and you can put something in it - I think we put a postcard in it. There are a couple of pieces like that, we had a CM do it for us. I guess she saw me trying to fit too many hats and shoes in the box and had overlooked the smaller pieces. If you do want to get a Potato Head - stuff him!

Yeah-stuff that box as much as you can! The first time we got a "head". I opened up the back and stuffed tons in it. When we got home I noticed we only had one ear. :confused3 So make sure you get all the parts you need. We got tons of Disney pieces. We've done it twice and have a large supply now.

Somewhere I have a picture of our second haul. If I can locate it I'll post it here.

We just saw this today at the store at DCA. There are some really cute pieces. I would've loved to have bought some myself, but my kids don't even play with the Potato Heads they have... :sad1:

I think I play with the potato heads more than my kids do :rotfl:. But I bring them out and the kids join in. Its fun to see how many variations can be made. I believe i read somewhere on the boards that someone actually collects them. A classic toy, made for any age!

We bought the Mr. Potato head at a target and just STUFFED the box full of pieces...only one side has to close ;)

then the lady that rung up our purchase told us "oh, I think we can stuff this even more full!"...she crammed even more in! our then 2 year old DD LOVED IT! princess:

Truth be told, it was fun for myself and DH as well :woohoo:

Have fun

I LOVE Mr. Potato Head (hence the name), I collect the different themed ones so I was very excited when I heard they had "all you can stuff in a box" spuds.

For some reason my sister wanted one too, so I guess we doubled up on some pieces but we tried our best not to. The pieces fit on the standard bodies that you can buy at the shops, but we took the bodies from the store anyway.

We had a bit of a bad experience when a lady who was also purchasing a spud told my sister she couldn't take a piece off one of the Potato's that were on display (it was a special Disney one, a Princess item maybe?) but it wasn't even on display, just sitting around the outside of the area - then SHE took it herself!

A tip is to put the smaller pieces inside the body, the legs are quite bulky though it is possible to fit some pieces between the body and the legs in the space. It's like a game of tetris to get as much in there as possible! It costs $20 for the cardboard box and $50 (I think) for the larger plastic case.

This doesn't really look like much, but it was how much we got into one of our two boxes - the othe one had more smaller items such as arms, ears and accessories, this was the 'bulkier' of the two.

Thank you! We are definitely looking forward to this and are going to make sure we have Mr. PH before we go. That will be fun for our little DD to play with on the plane, anyway. I'm sure DH will definitely have a blast with it, too.
