Just had a visit from another Disney fan who told me that she saw someone open up one of the Mr. Potato Heads at the Disney store and stuff in some of the accessory pieces before stuffing even more around it in the box that you get to put "All you can stuff" Potato Head set they sell there.

Not having done it myself or seen it done I cannot vouch for either the information or whether it is allowed but thought I would pass it on in case someone would know more than I do, not a hard thing to do. LOL

The fun in purchasing a potatoe head is to see how stuffed you can get the box. Inside potatoe is a must. Once you pay $16 for your stuffed box of potatoe parts, you will take Mr potatoe head box home, stuff it into your closet with all your other must haves from Disney.

We don't buy the potato head anymore from Dis..their .25 at most garage sales, like new!

Before we learned that, we did stuff the inside.all the tiny stuff fits nicely in it. One of the CM's said if they had a contest for weight, we would win! I am very, very good at stuffing them and the box, can still getting it to close. I can spend an hour or so there stuffing a couple of boxes on an off day, to use for suvenirs.

I shoulda known that you all would be far ahead of me. LOL Here I thought I was going to be able to give something back to the forum. Guess I will have to wrack my poor brain for another tip. (grin)

BTW, DMRick, I feel the same way about most faddish items. I let others buy them and if I still like them I can pick them up at garage sales for next to nothing a year later. Sad to report how many great books, never opened, I buy that way also. Even beats Amazon.com!

We did it last time and got tons of stuff in the head and box! However, at the resort we noticed the Mr. Potato Head in a nice plastic case, which both DD and I wish we had now since her paper box was history after a few weeks. It also had a lot of pieces.

I have a couple of potato heads already, so I stuffed my box with all the things you can only get at Disney. I didn't waste space with arms and eyes I can get those at any garage sale...I stocked up on mickey balloons, ice cream bars and autograph books, etc. Now I have 3 wdw potato heads on display!!

Not to mention, if you already have a potato. You can just buy a box of "parts" which is what I did last time I went down. You can stuff a heck of a lot more in there without the potato :)

I just got back from Disney. Got my potato head box from County Bounty in MK Toontown Fair. We already had a potato at home. The cast member working there said that we could get everything that they have their (at least one of each and more) if we didn't need the potato.

We got everything and a couple Mickey balloons, ice cream, autograph books and a bunch of earrings (linked together they make a necklace). The cast member helped us make sure we got everything. Then he dumped out the box and re-packed it for us so that it all fit! Lot of stuff for $16!

My 4 yr old loves it.

You might have misunderstood. We just buy the head at garage sales..we buy the parts at Disney LOL! Oh gosh..is this a fad? LOL

We looked at the already packed ones, but it didn't have all the stuff we wanted. It is a nice set, however. I've gotten so I know just what Mickey hands fit together and how to put stuff into the box, to get the most band for my buck (we buy the arms at Dis, because they are different than the regular ones..they hold the balloon and autograph book nicely.

I just finished wrapping my nephew's Mickey Potato Head toys that I got him for Christmas on my last trip in September.
Here is the list of what I got into the box. I think I did really well, the girl that was working there couldn't believe it. She even checked me out because she had to show off to everyone.
I got
2 Potatos
2WDW sandles (feet)
1 Sorcerer hat (guess I dropped one somewhere)
2 red balloons
2 Eyeglasses
2 autograph books
4 Mickey Bars
2 white bowtie shirt front
2 Mickey Hats
2 yellow lips
2 red lips with teeth showing
2 teeth
2 wigs
6 mustaches (don't ask me why, I have no idea)
2 blue eyes
2 light blue eyes
2 purple eyes
2 Mickey cameras
5 red noses
3 yellow noses ( think I put in a red nose instead of yellow)
2 tongues
8 pink ears
4 yellow earrings
8 arms
I used a big shoebox and cut out the Mr Potato Head from the box, put it on the shoebox and covered it with clear contact paper.
If anyone needs a Mr Potato Head, I am going back to the parks next week for 2 weeks. I would be glad to try and beat my record. Peggie

Help!..I want to do this!! My son is getting a Mr. Potato Head for Christmas.

Where are you stuffing these boxes??..is it at any Disney Store?..or at a certain place in the Disney World area?? Either way, I'd love to know so I can do this!! :earsboy:

Didn't see Mickey 527s' reply before I posted, are you also able to bring your own box?? ..wherever it is?? :)

So they have both Disney related Potato Head pieces and regular pieces?

Just wondering because I got 3 potato heads at a church fair for $1 and they had like 30+ pieces but no tongues and I would like some tongues. I bought them at the church fair knowing my girls would want the Disney potato head but I didn't want to pay Disney prices for the body and they really love playing with the heads and the parts so it was well worth the $1 I have paid so far and if I could add on Mrs. Potato Head pieces and some tongues at WDW that would be awesome.

We, too, were encouraged by the CM at Once Upon a Toy to stuff the potato with parts -- and then, like another has posted, the CM dumped everything out, repacked it and sent us to get more parts! Please remember to get plenty of the special arms because only they will hold the balloon, camera, ice cream bar and autograph book. The arms with the standard yard sale Mr. Potato Head will not work. I also found with one of my yard sale potatoes that the holes were just a tad too large to hold the Disney attachments.

We wish we had had the same CM when we tried the fill a box with Lincoln Logs. That CM was a stickler that the boxtop had to fold flat or no deal. I told him politely that it was a shame we were five logs over the "limit" because it lost Disney a $14 sale. Also, they post various free Lincoln Logs "blueprints", the implication being that you can build those projects with one boxful. Not true and I heard other people's children cajoling their parents into buying TWO boxes just so the kids can build the posted projects. Watch out for that scheme. Needless to say, we left the store without any Lincoln Logs, although we did take our free project plans.

My gripe is that how can one part of the store encourage you to get your money's worth while another part tries to nickle and dime you?

Can someone explain this to me??? I feel like an idiot. I have never heard of this before. I will be in Disney on Thursday (I can't wait) and we are going to Dowtown DIsney. Where do I go and what do I do. I have a 2 1/2 year old that loves Mr. Potato Head, and so does his 7 1/2 year old sister.

Thanks.

At DTD, head straight for the Once Upon a Toy Store. Just inside the door is a huge display of make your-own-Mr. Potato Head. Many of the accessories are exclusive Disney Theme park editions, like a tiny Mickey ice cream bar, Mickey balloon, autograph book, etc. They even had firefighting accessories in the wake of 9/11! Extremely cute! You can stuff the plastic potato head and box for $16.00. Try to get two of each special accessory in case one breaks or gets lost. My two kids still play with theirs a year later. (Yes, I felt the need to buy each child his/her own)

Don't forget to make your own Potato Head postcards to print out and take home, we put our's in the scrapbook, they are really cute. There are 4 computers at the stand, one at each corner. (you chose the hat, face, etc) and print in case you haven't heard of them.
