MR October 28, 2012 "Halloween Time"

We're just 1.5hrs away from the port so we'll just drive down there on Sun. morning.

Maybe we'll see you at the terminal / at boarding.

ELSIE

We only live a couple of hours away too, but we're going to start our vacation early by spending Saturday in Long Beach. We're going to Aquarium of the Pacific! Lorelai LOVES watching the fish! We used Priceline for a hotel in the area and got it for $65 or $69, something like that. It's about 4 miles from the pier. Hopefully we'll see you when we get there! I don't know what you look like to spot you in the terminal though :rotfl2: What do you look like? :confused3 :rotfl2:

Excited and can't wait! :yay:

We are on the 11:30 am boarding group too. We are leaving Sacramento by car at 3am. Maybe we will see you there.

We are leaving Sacramento too! Normally we leave about midnight the night before but this time we are lucky enough to fly :cool1:

We are not joining the FE as well but would also want to join in the Sun. 10/28/2012 - 3:05pm Initial DIS Meet & Greet at the Promenade Lounge.

~mickeyminnie2kids~

Sure! Come join us!

Found my boarding time it's 12 noon!!! Woop! What time are wee meeting again for a meet and greet??

See above :thumbsup2 Like Kidlette said, the link is on the first page with the FE info

Hey everyone - only 4 days left until we start our vacation! My husband says 5, but he's wrong. I told him, a countdown is the number of days before an event and there are 4 days BEFORE Saturday when we leave. Saturday doesn't count because it's not BEFORE, it's the day of. So, I'm right, only 4 days left! :lmao:

Anyway - a couple of things . . .

In the past couple of days several people have sent me private emails asking questions, wanting my opinion, etc. I just want to say that this is perfectly A-OK with me, I'm glad to help where I can! :thumbsup2 I've been able to respond pretty quickly lately, so I will try and get to you ASAP. But, if for some reason I don't respond just know that something came up and I probably haven't seen it. I will answer you as soon as I can though. With that said, we are leaving early Saturday morning because we are stopping at the voters office to cast our Presidential election votes before our vacation starts (since our vacation doesn't end after the cruise - we're going to Disneyland for Ryan's birthday Monday and Tuesday). Anyway, then we're going to Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach before boarding the ship Sunday morning and I will not be checking my emails or DISboards Saturday. Therefore, please know that if you send me a question/message after Friday afternoon (I will be busy finishing packing Friday night) I will probably won't see it and probably won't respond. So, moral of the story - I'm happy to answer any questions as best I can, just make sure you send them to me before Friday afternoon!

Second . . .

We are not participating in the FE group but we are going to hang our old FE in case anyone wants to leave us messages/notes/meet-up requests, etc. In the past people have left a message saying, "I'll be in Diversions tomorrow at 3:00 if you want to join us," and then people can either show up or not. We're going to hang our old FE for these types of notes and things. I know several people have sent me messages saying they'd like to meet us, so if we can't make it to the first group meet then this could be another way to try and meet up. By the way, we are going to try and make the first meet-up, so hopefully we'll see you all there :thumbsup2

If anyone wants to leave us messages and notes, here's our info (I'm not putting it on the FE list because we aren't actually participating, I just want people to know where we are in case of leaving notes and messages) :)

Kidlette
Ryan, Jessica, and Lorelai (9 months)
Cabin #6319

See everyone Sunday!! :woohoo: :yay: :cool1::cheer2:

We're driving down Sunday morning - after a stop at Coffee Bean. We've got boarding group 1 - so we'll see you early birds there. :)

:yay:

I agree!! :dance3:

Thanks for all your pearls of wisdom, you are helping others be informed and wade through the 'unknowns'. We will include you in our FE . . . you are as much a part of the group than any of us . . . your gifts was your wisdom.

Aw, you are too sweet. Thank you, but really, please don't feel like you have to do that. We know we didn't participate, we really just want to be able to have people leave us notes and stuff. Typically we don't drink, we're a 100% dry home - but - I'm thinking an adult night at the comedy club with a strawberry daiquiri one night might be nice. lol, that's why I'm leaving our room up for messages, in case anyone decides they want to do something like that, I might join them! :rotfl2: I think the last time I had a drink was almost 2 years ago, can you believe it!?! :scared1: But, I'm not breastfeeding anymore and it could be fun! That is...if Lorelai does well with daycare. She's never been without me or my husband. It's always one of us who watches her so it should be interesting! I guess we'll see how it goes at our 1st Palo reservation. :thumbsup2

Kidlette posted the schedule I think somewhere around page 15ish. Anyhow yes on Halloween :)

I called Disney TWICE and during both calls (with different reps of course), I was told that the Onboard Halloween Trick or Treat will be on our first night - October 28 (Sunday).

Anyone wants to confirm this as well?

I did post it and I was told by a rep that it is on Halloween night. I guess they could be wrong, but the person I spoke with gave me the exact days of the Halloween party, formal night, and semi-formal night. I can't imagine they'd have all of that info if they weren't sure. I can call again and see what they say though. Would be stupid if they didn't do it Halloween night.

Anyway - for now - here's what I was told by a DCL rep:

SUN - Depart
MON - Day at Sea, Formal night
TUES - Day at Sea
WED - Puerto Vallarta, Halloween Party!!!
THURS - Cabo San Lucas, Pirate night
FRI - Cabo San Lucas, Semi Formal night
SAT - Day at Sea
SUN - Home

Thinking about this more, they CAN'T do the party on night 1. Night 1 is the sail away party and the welcome show in the theater. There's no way they could have the sail away party and the welcome show PLUS the Halloween party - it's not feasible.

Oooh! sneaking away for a little fun!! :rotfl: I do wonder how J is going to do in the nursery as well. I feel like he is going to feel to old in there with the babies. Unfortunately he isn't potty trained yet and doesn't meet the age limits, so I am hoping for other toddlers so he can have fun with them. I signed him up for the nursery each night an hour after dinner since he will probably only last the first half of dinner service.

This makes total sense. Thats a lot for them to plan and do in one day.

I bought the boys sea bands and I think its called "motioneze" its a natural liquid that you put behind the ears. I am really worried if they get sea sick  How do you tell with a baby or toddler?

You've got me there! We have Lorelai's 9 month wellness visit tomorrow with the Pediatrician so I'm going to ask them about infants/babies/toddlers and seasickness. I will let you know what they say!! :thumbsup2

Tip - take a pop up hamper to keep in your room. It saves space and organizes dirty laundry. They fold up and are light, so they're easy to take.

Tip - take an over the door organizer that you can hang on the bathroom - an over the door shoe organizer works great because it has a lot of pockets. This can be used for baby/kids toys, your shoes, bathroom toiletries (the bathrooms are TINY on the ship), and anything else you want to organize and get off the floor that will fit in one of the pockets.

Tip - take the battery out of your cell phone if at all possible! I know people say they turn it off, but I had a friend once who had her cell phone off in the pocket of a bag and something hit or fell on the bag and turned it on! She received a cell phone bill for THOUSANDS of dollars because the phone kept roaming to find service. Remember - it's not "roaming" it's INTERNATIONAL ROAMING, which is never covered on any U.S. cell phone policy! Many people (myself included) will need to use their phones as a camera. Just be careful, make sure you check your phone periodically to see that it's stayed in airplane mode, and don't ever turn it on to use it as a phone or internet!

Remember - it's always fun to take a blank pillowcase for the characters to sign. You leave it with the "front desk" guest services people, they have the characters sign it and you pick it up before the cruise is over. NOTE - you MUST take your own markers labeled with your name and cabin number or they will not sign your pillowcase. You will be given a little half sheet with the characters on board and you say which ones you want. You can request others but they might not "be onboard the ship"

Hope these things help! :thumbsup2
Only 3 days to go!:cool1::cheer2::yay:

That was what I was thinking too that's why I called twice thinking that the 1st rep made a mistake but then the 2nd rep told me the same thing. We'll know for sure on Sun. then LOL

Ooh, we would love to plan something with you! :joker: It is just me and my hubby . . . celebrating 25 years. Our kid is all grown up so we are footloose and fancy free. :cheer2:

Our schedule is pretty open and we are game for any meet ups, we love meeting new people and making friends. party:

We fly out on Saturday and our check in time is noon.

Hey, a question. Do you have any insites on wheelchairs . . .like is there a different line for people in wheelchairs or do we stay in the regular one when checking in?

Absolutely! We're playing things by ear based on how Lorelai does in daycare, etc., so leave us a note or something when you think you want to go and we'll see what we can do! I don't want to plan anything because I don't know how she's going to be being on a ship, if she'll have seasickness, and how she'll be being left with strangers, but as long as it all works out we'd love to do that!! I'm probably not going to the Cove meet up because it's a women only thing, and frankly, Ryan and I want to spend time as a family with Lorelai - not separated. It's more fun for us as a family, especially since this is our 1st family vacation. After 9 years trying to have a baby we finally have her, so I'm not going to leave her for much (sorry everyone). If there was a meet up where husbands and children could join we would considering going, but there's not much of that.

Have you every been on a Disney Cruise before? More specifically, have you ever seen the Toy Story Musical on the ship? That might be a good night for us to do something because I HATE that show! Ryan has promised me we can skip it (thank GOD). The problem is we don't know which night that will be. Disney refuses to tell you because things could change and they don't want it to be a problem if people make reservations around it, etc. But, I'm pretty sure that night is open! The other problem is - do they do comedy night and stuff on show nights? :confused3 I'm drawing a blank and can't remember.

As far as wheelchairs in the terminal, I've never noticed a line for disabled persons separate than the other lines, but I could be wrong. You'll have to use the elevator because the terminal/desks to check in are upstairs. Once you get up there though the lines are what they are - big lines of people waiting to check in. I'm pretty sure I've seen wheelchairs in the normal lines, but I'm not 100% on that. I'm sorry I'm not much help with that :(

Hey guys,
Guess what came yesterday? My cruise docs....:hourglass Just in time...

Wow! That was cutting it close! Was it your travel agent holding onto it? I don't understand why they waited so long. Interesting. Glad you got them though! :cheer2:
