I always get so nervous that my DH and I will get separated on SW flights, which is why I started paying for Early Bird check in! That was so nice what they did for you guys on the plane...even if it was probably a little embarassing!

Oh, I know. That's what I should've done and would've had no worries! But it all worked out. And, yes, it was very nice of them!

And that is one of the many reasons I love SWA! Who else would do that? Well, actually a flight attendant on a US Air flight did give my son a goody bag full of all sorts of things after he got sick on a flight.

It was a great way to start things out! DH even commented that he'd always try to fly SW just because they made that flight special for him.

How funny! My DH would have been so embarrassed. I love how they made you a toilet roll cake. Awesome memories.

My DH wasn't embarrased at all! He was lovin' it! I was the embarrased one. But, ya know, even embarrased moments are sometimes the moments you'll remember a lifetime. I can just imagine Jeremy telling our children (good Lord willing) that little story! for awesome memories!!

Thanks! I wish I could have finished the trip report, but I had too many things happen at one time in my life and before I knew it, time had totally gotten by me.

I have a sickness. A big one. I am constantly thinking of ways that I can get back to Disney. I'm fortunate because of having parents that are DVC members, so my going is easier because I do not have to pay to stay at a hotel room. They're generous enough to allow me to use their timshare, they're awesome and I love them very much. I have such a sickness though that I have four trips planned to WDW between November 2010 and October 2011. I think I'm a little obsessed......

I caught up with my kid in the POP shop. Hehe. He was a kid in a candy store. Ready to spend all his money on pixie stick sugar.

We decided to go check out our room. I had not made any specific requests, other than a King bed. I had never stayed at POP and quite frankly, I was too busy to think about specifics. I figured we could make the best of wherever they landed us for the week. Ha! We ended up in the 90s, room 8256. It was the building with the cell phones. We were on the side that overlooked … nothing. Well, grass, a few trees and the entrance exit road to the 80s parking lot, if you count that as something. Again, something I would have been upset about had we planned to stay in the room all week. But that was not our plan, so it didn’t really mean much to us. In the 90s area we had super easy access to the computer pool. And, neither of us felt like we were too far away from Classic Hall and the bus stops. It was just a quick little walk across the 90s parking lot and we were at the bus stops. If we had children, I do believe this would have gotten on my nerves. But for us, it was just fine. We weren’t as happy to find that we had not gotten our requested King bed. Boo! Oh well. We’re at Disney. We’ll be tired enough when we return to the room that any bed will be comfortable and spacious enough. Shamefully, I have no cool pictures of our room number, the inside of the room, or even the view. Gasp! I know you were looking forward to seeing Disney’s grass. Hehe. For those of you who may not know what the inside of a Pop room looks like you can visit DisneyFirefly's trip report for some good pictures in this post. Maybe I’ll be a better trip journal-er next time, so I can be a better trip report-er when I return.

We dropped off our carry-on bag, and I emptied my purse and filled it back up with park essentials and we were off …

To find a bite to eat. We were hungry. We did not have an ADR for this evening, so we decided to stop by the food court before heading to the park. We shared this counter service meal:

ALL of it was yummy. And, quite filling. That red velvet cheesecake was as good as it looks in all the pictures. However, its not something I’d eat every day. I was concerned it was going to turn my lips and tongue an odd color. And, it did. But only for a few minutes.

After eating, we headed to the bus stop. But, along the way, we happened across pressed penny machines. I collect Disney pressed pennies --- a little hobby I picked up my first trip to the world. And by “hobby” I mean I collect all the pennies in every machine I find, not just the ones I happen to like. You see, my first trip to the world … before I even discovered the disboards … I was solo by day. My boy friend, at the time, was at a work conference held at Coronado Springs. While he “worked” I toured the parks solo. At night he would catch up with me for dinner, touring the parks (he wouldn’t ride anything) and night fireworks. During the day, I’d go on rides and catch parades and collect pressed pennies. It just stuck. Every trip to Disney I am always armed with a change purse full of quarters and pennies! It’s fun. A little nerdy, but fun. My last trip I was a little Pressed Penny Collecting Nazi! But this trip, not so much. If we passed one, I collected but I didn’t seek out machines like I did before.

So, back to the current story … we collected the pressed pennies from the 4(I think) machines in POP and finally hopped on the bus headed to Hollywood Studios. This was our first bus line of the trip. When we walked into line we stopped in the 3rd turn of the line. There were probably a good 30-40 people/children ahead of us. We both wondered if the whole week was going to be like this. We had really thought that in October the crowds would be lighter?! We hoped the week wouldn’t prove to consistently leave us looking at each other perplexed about the crowds. When we arrived to HS, our fear about crowds was only reaffirmed with the crowd of people entering the park, and even worse once we got into the street area. Yikes!

Where did we head first? Everyone answered Toy Story Mania, didn’t you? Come on, be honest. Nope, that wasn’t first. We got these babies first:

And, I must add that the cast members were much more friendly and helpful at the park than the cast member that we had run into at Pop Century. But I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt...maybe he was having a bad day. After getting our “Happily Ever After” buttons, we headed to Toy Story Mania. Yes, we realized there would be a wait time, but we wanted to see how bad it actually was. We knew there would be no fast passes left at this time of day. Here are just a few pictures of the area. This was the first time for either of us to see it, and we were just walking around soaking it all in …

And, we happen to see these fellows in a meet and greet area. The line to see them was crazy!!! Jer took a picture from outside, as you can tell by the "no entry" sign.

As always, Disney has the area decorated elaborately and to a T. Neat-O! The wait was around 120 minutes. We decided to not stand and wait for 120 minutes. It was an EMH night, so we knew we could stay around for a while. Our strategy was to catch it close to the end of the night and maybe the crowd would be a little lighter. You think that strategy worked??? You'll have to wait and see ...

This is where this particular night gets a little hazy! I didn’t take many pictures. I have this problem. When I first arrive somewhere I want to soak up being there, and I inadvertently forget to snap pictures! Doh! I know we visited Muppet-Vision 3D:

I love this wait area where you watch the video as you wait to actually get in the theater. I wish I would have snapped LOTS more shots. It’s all themed perfectly. And, soooo many things you miss if you don’t take the time to look around!

After that, I remember coming out and seeing a photo op with Mater. And, I collected some pressed pennies right beside that photo op area.

And then we took this picture:

It just makes me giggle when I hear people walk by and say something like, "look they spilled paint" or "I wonder why they put spilled paint everywhere?" Obviously, you haven't watched the muppets much.

We also collected several other pennies that night. In fact so many that we had to stop in that shop in the above picture to ask for another roll of quarters. Sorry, no pictures of the pennies but I do remember taking this pic after collecting the ones in the Toy Story area.

See, I was excited about collecting my pressed pennies!

We walked over to possibly see about getting in the theater for Fantasmic! That was a negative, ghost-writer. The street was already lined for the second show … all the way back to the main entrance road.

Jeremy tried to talk me into riding Tower of Terror. I would not agree. I have a slight fear of falling. I’m not afraid of heights, just afraid of falling. You ever had a dream where you’re falling and you wake up thinking your still falling and you grab on to whatever is around and jolt your still body out of sleep all because you’re falling in the dream??? Please tell me that’s not just me. Anywho, I just can’t make myself get on that ride. I’m sure I’d probably enjoy it if I ever had the courage to get in the seat, but I just wasn’t ready yet … I told him maybe I would ride it before we left, but not as the very first thrill ride of the trip. I needed to warm up. This was only my second time riding coasters and thrill rides. Yep, you read that right. Un-American to some degree, huh? My last trip to Disney was the first time I had ever ridden a coaster. I was a thrill ride / roller coaster virgin at the age of 20-something. It’s okay. I can admit that. My first was Expedition Everest. It probably wasn’t even a year old at that time. I remember getting a coupon for a free picture for playing and beating some game online.

So, yeah … I needed to warm up before hopping on a ride where I know at some point I would be falling … you think I finally rode it this trip? You’ll have to stay tuned. I will go ahead and tell you we did make it back to HS before we left …

I think it was at this point I realized I was hungry. And, when I made the announcement, Jeremy decided he was hungry too. So we stopped in at the counter service place near Tower of Terror (the name escapes me). I got the pizza, ceasar salad and fudge cake. DH got the Italian Sammy, ceasar salad and fudge cake. I failed to take pictures of this. But, don’t worry. You’ve got lots of food pictures to look at in the rest of the report!

After eating, I believe we headed to see the Little Mermaid. It was sooo cute. Jeremy had never seen it.

And, after Little Mermaid, I tricked Jeremy into going to the animation class with me … hehehe. But, I actually think he enjoyed it. I can't remember who we drew ... i'll have to look at home for you guys and maybe post a picture later.

Then, either I or Jeremy took this picture somewhere but I don't recognize where it came from ... maybe around The Little Mermaid??

Then I think we headed back to Toy Story. The wait time was ***only*** 40 minutes. We hopped in the stand-by line...

and waited ...

and waited ...

Until we finally made it to the ride. And, guess what? It didn't take 40 minutes. I think it was closer to 30ish. It was fun! Almost as good as all the hype. And, I beat DH, so that made it even better! hehehe.

When we got out of Toy Story it was around 11:45, so we stopped by the Movie Ride to see if we might catch the last show. We did. Yay!

Then it was back to our resort. I took this on the way out of the park ...

And, that was the end to a lovely first night at Disney!

The question still remains, however ... did our luggage make it to the room???

Sorry that you didn't care for the room much. The 90's is our favorite building! But, we drive, so it's mostly a parking thing and I can see why you weren't as thrilled. That side of the building's view stinks!

Lovin that 30 minute wait over the 120 for TSM! I'm really curious to see if you end up on Tower of Terror. I am soo afraid of elevators. That thing is toooo scary!

Hi Debbie! Christmas week?! One day maybe i'll make it to Disney during Christmas! I know it has to be beautiful with all the decorations. As for a suggestion for a room ... I would guess "prime" location is probably in the 60s area. The Hippy Dippy Pool is there and your the closest to Classic Hall and the bus stops, relatively speaking. I guess the pool probably doesn't matter in December. lol. Some of the rooms in the 50s and 70s building is just as close to Classic Hall. Have you ever seen the map layout of the resort? After I post this, i'll try to go find the page that has the map and come back and post a link for ya! As far as room amenities, I think they're pretty much all the same. But I know that thread also has that info too.

I really was bummed about not having a "just married" button. Apparently, it is quite new b/c some cast members weren't even sure about what "happily ever after" means. But, it still meant the same thing to us. And, it was nice to constantly have cast members saying congratulations.

I hope you do get your DH on Toy Story Mania! It is a lot of fun. I'm glad he agreed to go on your next trip. You'll enjoy it. However, I will say that I didn't enjoy it enough to go back and wait 120 minutes after doing it once. For a 30 minute wait, i'd stand in line again.

I'm glad they gave us our buttons too ... cause if they didn't they were gonna have two unhappy guests ... and I know they don't want that ... at the Happiest place on earth, right?! lol. Oh, the 90s is definitely a fun building ... on the right side. And, with kids, access to the pool that we had would have been most ideal! All the theming is just too fun at POP to not enjoy yourself. At least that's what I think.

Jeremy and I meandered back to the bus stops after our first day at Disney, recollecting what a fun day we had, and anticipating all the fun that was to come. When we arrived to the bus stop for Pop Century, the line was long, and by long I mean that it snaked all the way back to the area where the cattle shoots ended. Please excuse the cattle reference. I’m from the south. I don’t know what else to call it. Here we are at the end of our first day in line waiting for the bus:

One bus came and went. We inched closer to the boarding section. After waiting for about 10 minutes, another bus came. We knew there was no way we were making it, but then before it could get loaded a 2nd bus came and we made it on that one. We were packed like sardines, but we made it. Yay! When we arrived back to the resort, we were both eager to see if our luggage had arrived. If it hadn’t, we had decided to call a cab head back to the airport to retrieve it. Fortunately, we didn’t have to … because when we opened our room door it was a beautiful site – both pieces of our luggage sat in our room floor waiting for our return back to the room.

Soon after we unpacked a few things, brushed our pearlie whites, and hopped in our PJs, we were fast asleep.

The second morning of our honeymoon was no different than the previous day. We were up before the alarm sounded … just too excited to sleep! I was especially excited because this was THE day I would meet Mary Poppins! Mary Poppins is my most favoritest Disney movie of all time. There are plenty other outstanding Disney movies, but for this girl – Mary Poppins is the Fave! And, DH knew that from our many conversations about Disney prior to engagement. He had actually considered proposing to me after taking me one weekend to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. Yeah, he’s that cool!

Would you like to hear, I mean read, the sweet story that goes along with this day? Good! I thought you might. Let me share …

As I said previously, the first priority of planning after we committed to Disney for our honeymoon was to book ADRs. I asked Jeremy to make a list of the top 10 places he would like to eat. He did and I matched up our matching decisions. Basically, we decided to shoot for Le Cellier, California Grill, and O’Hana. Those were the 3 places we were both itching-like-crazy to try! For the rest of our TS credits, we would just plug places in from his list - I knew he would put time and thought into making his list. Previously I told you about how uncharacteristically lucky I was to snag ressies for all three of those places … yay! So, now I was at the point of just filling in the rest of the slots. I mentioned to Jeremy that I’d like one breakfast table service. We decided to shoot for Kona Café the Saturday of our departure, so we booked it and our reservations were complete. We were both excited about trying Kona. I was particularly excited about trying their coffee and Tonga Toast!

A week later Jer brings up our reservations and says he’d really like to try out 1900 Park Fare. He had never been to the Grand Floridian to even look around (he knew I hadn’t either) and he wanted us to change our Kona reservation and try to book 1900 Park Fare. I will admit there was a moment when I thought to myself - no, we’re booked, let’s not change it now. But, I could tell he was very intent on his request. So, I zipped my lips and went online to make the change. I was successful. We had to change around a couple other ressies, but we were good to go. He was ecstatic!

A couple weeks later, I’m looking back over our plans and reservations – printing everything out for my Disney notebook – when I realized…for the first time…that this Character breakfast included Mary Poppins!!! That made me ecstatic! I had no clue! Next time I saw my sweet beloved I brought this up…

Me: (picture me super excited…tigger-bouncing, even) Did you know Mary Poppins is one of the characters at 1900 Park Fare???
Jer: Yep. (with a grin)
Me: So, I’m gonna meet Mary Poppins??
Jer: Yup. (grin turns to a smirk)

Really? That’s all you’re gonna say? You knew that Mary was there and you didn’t tell me???? Ugghhh … then it dawned on me … that was his plan all along. He knew I loved ‘my’ Mary Poppins. He knew I didn’t know she was included in this Character breakfast, or I would have put it on my list.

Whoa! How did I get so lucky?

So, this was THE day - - - THE day I would visit MK for the first time this trip. THE day I knew I would transform into my “little kid” self to match my DH “little kid” self. THE day I would ride my most favorite ride in all of Walt Disney World. (If you wonder what that is, you’ll have to come back!) But, most importantly, THE day I would meet THE one and only, Ms Mary Poppins! Oh joy! What a jolly holiday!

We were soon up and at it, even though we had given ourselves a late breakfast ADR. Jeremy went to Classic Hall to purchase his refillable mug and grab something to drink. Guess who stopped by to visit while he was gone? That’s right, Tinkerbelle! He was again surprised to find the happy she left for him. On this day it was boxes of candy … sugar babies, nerds, and sour worms. His favorites! Now, how did she know that?!

We were out the door and headed for Magic Kingdom. However, when we arrived to the bus stop the line for MK was crazy long. The Epcot line had only a handful of people, so we changed our plans and headed to Epcot to jump on the monorail. This proved to be a mistake because we had to go through the security lines at Epcot to get access to the monorail. At MK I think we could have just hopped on without going through security. While the crowd for Epcot was small at our resort, the crowd for the security line at Epcot was not! Yikes! Now that I’m typing this, I think we really made it more difficult for us than necessary. We hopped on the monorail to TTC so we could connect to the monorail running to resorts, but couldn’t we have just hopped on the monorail running to resorts at Epcot??? Maybe someone can clear that up for me.

Anywho, we ended up being 30 minutes late for our reservation. Gasp! I was so embarrassed. I don’t like being late. I like being punctual. I’m sure Mary Poppins would agree with me. Hehe. Nonetheless, they accommodated us and outfitted us with our very own pager and sent us to discover the resort while we waited … well, the first and second floor of the resort, as that is as far as the pager would reach. I’m sad that I don’t have any pictures to share with you. I was still getting over the embarrassment and frustration of being so late to our reservation, so we failed to snap any pictures. The GF really is a beautiful resort! If you’ve never visited, I encourage you to!

We probably waited a good 25 minutes before our pager buzzed. We were soon escorted to our seats. How lovely it was. Our waitress stopped by the table and served us some Passion Fruit Juice. This stuff was delish! She then took our drink orders and told us to help ourselves. We did:

Mickey waffle and bacon

Strawberry Soup! Mmm!

Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, Potato Casserole, Sticky Bun, Fresh Pineapple, Biscuit

This was DHs plate. I have no clue what all is on there.

DH felt the need to get a mickey mouse plate. Hehe. I think he's got french toast, breakfast pizza and bacon ... and there is that yummy Passion Fruit juice.

It wasn’t long before we started having characters stop by. Our first visitor was Pooh. He was sweet. He pointed at our buttons. I confirmed that we were married. He jumped and clapped for us, and then we took pictures. I can’t imagine how awkward it is sometimes for faceless characters to interact with guests. They really are talented to find ways to communicate.

Then Tigger …

Blurry! So, he tried again ...

Still blurry. ugh!

The Mad Hatter asked what brought us to Disney. Dear hubby quickly said it was our honeymoon. Again, my eager DH so proud to be married and on our honeymoon! We talked about that for just a minute. He asked where we were from, and then asked if we wanted a picture … uh, of course, you silly Mad Hatter … put your best smile on for the Funderburks!

Do you notice how blurry the pictures are? And, the pictures of Jeremy are clearer than mine? I don’t know what was going on. I think I had played with my camera settings for taking food pictures, and these didn’t come out so well.

Next up was Alice. This was a funny one. Do you notice anything different about DH in his picture with Alice compared to his picture with the other characters? Take a look:

That’s right. He took off his hat. Can you guess why? Alice got on to him about being a gentleman and that it was rude to wear your hat at the table. Directly following the removal of his hat, he put his elbows on the table and she promptly scolded him again. He blushed so bad. It was funny. And cute. Every time she would take a picture she we say “Tea” … it took me forever to figure out what she was saying. You could hear it over the whole restaurant. I had to take 2 pictures of she and Jer because the flash didn’t go off in the first one. She hurriedly said, “oh brother, let’s try once more.” This time she screeeeaaaaamed “Tea” and it cracked me up. I was giggling so hard. Here I am with Alice:

And finally, it was THE time to meet Mary Poppins. I was a kid. I kept giving DH play by play of her encounters with other guests behind him before getting to our table. I was so excited I was cracking him up! I stopped eating when I knew she was almost to our table. I didn’t want to have food in my mouth … or pepper in my teeth, for that matter. When she arrived to the table, I stood up and gave her a great big hug and told her what a delight it was to be meeting her. Then she commented that we obviously had our spoon full of sugar today because we were both wearing great big smiles. Then she noticed our buttons and commented that maybe that was the reason we were so happy. Lol. Yup, maybe! It was a lovely little encounter! We snapped some pictures. I’m not sure you can tell by the picture just how excited I was?! Hehehe.

She then asked if we were off to great adventures today? We both said yes, great adventures in Magic Kingdom. She confirmed that there were indeed some great adventures to enjoy there and wished us a happy day. With that she moved on to the next table.

Oh, it was just lovely! I have a smile on face just typing up that encounter!

We finished up our meal, signed our ticket and headed back to the monorail. DH asked if I enjoyed our breakfast. Oh, did I! And, I started a spill of how I was so happy to meet Mary Poppins, and I was so happy my DH suggested we go to 1900 Park Fare, and I was so thankful to be holding his hand walking through the Grand Floridian, and I was so happy to be at Disney, and couldn’t wait to walk through MK and see the castle for the first time, and … well, you get the picture. I went on and on. I think it was at that moment that he basked in the happiness of the smile plastered on my face, the pep in my step, and the obvious joy abounding from my heart because he commented, “…this is what I’ve been waiting on.”

So. Happy. I. Could. Oblige. Dh.

And … it could only get better because we were headed to this place …
