Mr.Mikes Final thoughts and pics
The drive down was good again. 20.5 hours to get down but we had so much traffic in Brooklyn. The drive was so slow there we took some pics of manhatten that I posted.
Drive back was 18.5 hours which included only a half hour of traffic.
We left one of the seat from our Odyssey home which gave us plenty of room for luggage and all the millions we spent at Downtown Disney.
First the weather; It was great 85 during the day and 65 at night. Never saw a drop of rain.
The Boardwalk;
What can I say? The place was beautiful. From the striking front of the resort to our bright clean room to the Boardwalk itself.
I do have to note that the hallways of the Boardwalk Inn (BI) were freezing. Mr.Mike loves the cold and even I felt very very cold waling through the lobby. The sinks were located outside the bathroom . The door to the bathroom had a full length mirror on it. If you opened the door while at the sink you have a view of the back of you. The large make up mirror on the wall was also a big hit with the ladies.
We werent sure where else to find coffee in the morning besides Boardwalk Bakery. And that place always had very long lines so wed get coffee and bagles at Epcot & MGM.
We didnt buy refillable mugs for the similar reason that we didnt know where to buy them or get them refilled. And the walk wouldnt have been worth it even though we were pretty close to the lobby.
It was very relaxing seeing the boardwalk at night. I enjoyed the view as much as if not more than looking off the beach at the Poly.
There are places here to sit and relax such as the quiet pools or take a short walk to the Beach Clubs Beach.
If you want some noise you have plenty of choices. But just sitting on the Boardwalk gives you many opportunities to be entertained. I cant see any reason not to go back.
The walk to epcot when you are on the Boardwalk is so short I was surprised. To MGM its a bit longer but if you are a walker its easy.
As youll see from our balcony view, a room over looking the garden area is very nice. We were lucky to get this instead of the driveway to the resort but even that doesnt seem bad at all in person.
The walk from the parking lot to the Front isnt that far but certainly isnt close. I would think more people here would use the valet than then at the Poly.
Things I forgot to do or didnt get a chance to do; ordering the Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream, Having a drink at the Belle Vue Room off the Boardwalks Lobby. Its a 1930s sitting room with a butler and has an outdoor balcony.
Final thought on the Boardwalk; We loved it all and cant wait to go back.
The Polynesian. What else can I say? Ill start with the good. The pool ( although very crowded this time) the beach, a great view of Wishes and the Electric Water Parade. The first CM we dealt with was wonderful. He was loading our bags and kept asking for more. He offered to valet the car and then hed unpack it for us when the room was ready. But we had some stuff we werent bringing in so we declined. Unfortunately as you all now it went down hill from here regarding CMs. The woman who checked us in was cordial but not particularly friendly. I forgot to mention in the report she asked for APs at check in. First time we were ever asked.
Although check is at 3pm the room wasnt ready until 3:30 and then of course we all know it wasnt ready.
I never got an answer from anyone regarding the blood or glass or yellow goop on the floor or the hole in the wall or the security latch missing from the sliding doors.. There is a serious lack of communication at this resort among CMs at the front desk. Remember we were kept waitinf almost 2 and one-half hours before the house keeping manager showed up. And although we kept getting reassured someone was on their way he told us he wasn;t informed until 10 minutes before showing up at our door.
Also I had to contact them regarding moving us back to a 1st floor because no one ever called us. And when they said they will call back to tell us our redrum room was in fact ready again, they never did.
Oh I forgot to mention; We were all shocked when they moved rooms around only to put us back in 1601. That was Monday. On Tuesday we saw housekeeping getting a room ready for a new guest just 4-5 doors down. So there was one room they could have given us.
Dont forget the woman at the front desk who told us we could go over to bell services ourselves when we asked her to contact them to move our bags from our 2nd room back to Redrum.
After coming from the boardwalk you do notice that some parts of the Poly do seem a bit worn. The shower was the first thing I noticed. Much better shower and shower head at the Boardwalk.
Final thought.
Its funny that of 1000 pics I took with the digital camera I think there two were of the Redrum room. I was so annoyed and busy dealing with this roomi forgot to take more pictures of it.
The many cast members we encountered just didnt seem to be deluxe resort material. Then again they didnt seem to be the right material for any Disney resort. They didnt seem to care, they certainly offered us no help and honestly it was bad enough that we wont return there. If I ever here from anyone after sending a letter to guest relations Ill let you know.
The Parks and Downtown Disney
They were all very clean and in both places we found the most friendly and genuine cast members. It was because of those CMs at the shops that we spent an amount close to the number of pics I said we took.
We lost some time with the Halloween Party because of Redrum but it was a lot of fun. The parade was better then the one we saw in 2001 and the characters in it seemed to be having such a good time. Our kdis even made it past the 2nd parade, We used that time to continuously go on rides as they were all at main street.
I already had my mickey iced tea ahhhh delcious. Also bought mickeys lemonade. The lemom was fantastic the lime was okay and I didnt try the last flavor and cant remember it at the moment.
All our meals were very good. I cant recommend the Cape May clam bake high enough and I dont eat seafood.
And I cant end without thanking TheSorcererofFantasia again for her generosity in taking us on an Illuminations! cruise. Thanks, Cher it really was the highlight for us. We hope to see you all again someday.
There are some very good pics in here. Make sure you check out the ones I took from the front car of the monorail.
