MR January 29 2012- Who's in?

Dear Lordy...after worrying about my mom's birth certificate and talking her into ordering a certified copy (just do it for me, so I don't have nightmares) she did it. My DH mentioned to me right now, "well, hope your passport isn't expired." :scared1: WTHeck? I jump up grab them, I'm okay, Lacey's (DD13) expires one week after we disembark. I have our birth certificates but it's funny how freaked out I am with everyone else's documents I completely forgot to look at mine. :sad2:

Regarding fish extenders & meet and greet. It can't be a surprise any more because I can't figure out how to put these things in a pocket or bag. No way. So, I'm all for a meet and greet so I can hand them out. I bought a whole tube of those glo necklaces for pirate night. If I bend them, well, you know, they'll light up. How do I put a stick in a pocket! I'm sure people would find it easy to just take. :confused3 So I'd like to just hand them out. If I have any left over, I'll just hand them out on pirate night. I'm even thinking I may leave them at guest services and say if anyone comes up to ask for them, give some to them, they are in my Dis group. What do you think?

Glad you're okay on the passport thing. That is a scary feeling!!

For your FE gifts, don't worry about them not fitting in the pockets! We came back to our room many, many times to find items placed on the floor under our FE. And stuff is always over flowing out of the pockets... that's part of the fun, like an overstuffed stocking on Christmas morning :) But if you want o hand out at the meet... I'm sure no kid is going to refuse a gift!!

Ok...because they are so sensitive. I showed my son and he just lifted it up and it lit up. :rolleyes1 I have a tube of them for our group. I think I can figure out a way to keep them straight...and may be on pirate day.

I'm thinking I'm going to go the meet and greet. If I have lots left over I'll leave them at Guest Services and tell our friends here who could not make the meet and greet to go get them on Pirate day at Guest Services. It's one afternoon. Not like I'm doing it the entire week. Then I will just hand the leftovers out at the party.

Hey my fellow cruisers...it was the thought that counts! :grouphug:

Okay, so we're getting down to the last little bit here . . . and I realize that the boys' passports are expired. Because, of course, they're only good for 5 years and our last Disney cruise was in 2006, so they expired in April. Last time around we were required to have passports, NOT birth certificates, but that was just when they were tightening up security and may also have been tied to our Caribbean destinations. Our travel packet says certified copies of birth certificates are acceptable, but I'm scared to death that we'll get to port and they'll say, "Sorry, no passport, no cruise!" Please reassure me :) I really don't want to take a trip to San Francisco for emergency passports . . .

And in other news, I've begun full-on packing panic LOL Still freaking out about FEs, too. (Awesome, *amazing* job on the list BTW! Thanks again, Roxanne and all our spreadsheet wizards!!)

Awesome! I thought I was the only one freaking out about this! I have checked here and on the web, and the us passport site, and I'm getting the same info...birth certificates are fine. I'm not sure what the "certified" means. And yeah, still freaking out we won't be allowed on

I had called DCL about the Character Breakfast, and they said that on a 7 nighter everyone will have a time assigned, and that you'd be able to go to both the breakfast and Palo (I asked in case it conflicted with our brunch, too!)

As to the difference between formal and semi formal -

  • Cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
  • Formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress
  • Semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit
  • Palo: dress pants and shirt or jacket for men and a dress or pantsuit is required for women.

Glad to know I'm not the only one with these questions...I think I called DCL every day last week!

Oh, and by the way...I don't own a gown, nor I'm sure would look good enough in one to purchase one, so I'm not sweating that one...

This is very loosely interpreted by the guests on board. For the most part... cruise casual will mean jeans/dockers and t-shirt or polo shirt, semi formal and formal looked almost identical except for a few evening gowns and tuxedos on formal night. They are more strict in Palo. No shorts or jeans or tshirts.

Some folks wore shorts to dinner and I felt weird for them. It seemed very out of place, especially in Triton's.

WOW! After obsessing all night about weather we had the "right" birth certificates (long form vs short form, what exactly is "certified", does it need an apistle seal?) I had myself so convinced we wouldn't be allowed on the ship I almost had a nervous breakdown!! I went to bed and dreamed that we made in onto the ship, but the cruise was almost over, and I had forgot to go to the Dismeet, so nobody brought us FE's, I had our bag to hand out, but didn't know which staterooms they go into, I had forgot to set up Tea with Alice, and my daughter was crying, I had never read any of the navigators, so we didn't do ANYTHING but eat and swim, and I had forgot to send the kids to thier kids club! I think I need to do something not cruise related....as I seem to be terribly obsessing!

Ours have a raised seal on them and say "certified" at the bottom, and have a stamp from the public records office. We had to obtain them before getting the boys' passports, me being the organized soul that I am and having misplaced their originals LOL Luckily we still live in the city where they were born, so it only took about an hour for me to get them. I've been careful with them since, and with their activities nowadays, I get them out and use them a few times a year anyhow :) So hopefully we'll all be fine *fingers crossed*

Don't worry you're on my spreed sheet so even if you were to miss DISmeet I'd still drop things off at your stateroom.

I am just thinking of wearing mine everyday till the cruise :D

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: Jeez, this weather is so great, I could walk the dog and wear my top and get a heads up on my tan. My kids would be mortified :scared1: I will admit, I do put some lotion on while I walk the dog...got to start somewhere! :thumbsup2

Funny you should mention...I was just logging on to post what I have! I don't know how to add an attachment (really, if we can add an attachment), so I am going to post here what I have - I am happy to bring hard copies too, unless someone else has a different style spreadsheet they think may work better (no offense taken there!).
