Kevin is at the firehouse, which is next to the town hospital, which both are next to a town creek. Kevin called and said the creek has gone over the banks, and the hospital ER is getting flooded out(the hospital is lower than the firehouse). The water is going straight into the lobby/waiting area
There are many slab houses in this area that Kevin feels may need to be evacuated. They have the rescue boat ready, and will take action when needed. This is going to be a very long day and night for the firefighters/EMTs
, if all this rain they are predicting truly does come, which it probably will

The evacuation has begun![]()
Kevin called me and said he was waist deep in water, and it's getting nothing but higherHe also said that they just called for a car fire somewhere, but there's no one to respond to that, so I'm not sure what's going to happen with that. Pretty scary stuff!!!!!! I just hope that we aren't next
edited to add:
Please keep Kevin and the rest of the firefighters in your thoughts and prayers. It's times like these that make me very nervous because these guys and gals on the FD are very tired and stressed out, which plays such a toll on them. They've had so many calls these past couple of days, heck, these past couple of weeks, and they are exhausted. They are a great bunch of people, and this town is so lucky to have them!!!!!
I'm home now, but before I came home, me and the girls took a drive around town. This place is utter craziness (in a very organized way). There are neighboring police depts and fire depts helping out with directing traffic, and whatever else needs to be done. There are 3 staging areas where people are filling sandbags - this creek is expected to still rise another couple feet yetKevin and our neighbor Rob (also a fireman/EMT) came home long enough to change clothes (I didn't see them, it was before I came home) and they were off again. If they come home tonight, I'll be shocked. He's running on pure adrenaline now, and when he does come home to crash, he's going to crash hard
I just hope he's able to get some sleep before he has to go back to work on Monday.
Kevin made is home around midnight, and was totally exhausted
Luckily, we made it through the night w/o any calls, so he could sleep alot![]()
When he came home last night, he had bad news about our parents subdivision - it is now flooding with sewer backupThere were some streets that were totally underwater, but not bad enough for an evacuation. Luckily, our parents streets are fine, and I hope it stays that way (fingers crossed).
On a slightly different subject.
Kevin told me that Culvers brought the guys tons and tons of food - wasn't that nice of them?! He said there was everything from hamburgers, cheeseburgers, different chicken sandwiches and more. It's good to know that the guys weren't hungry![]()
I'll keep you guys posted as things happen here.
Have a good day!!![]()
Slo--- I hope that your weather situation improves soon.

I gotta wake up!!!
We had a long day that ended with 2 flat tires - that was a drag!!!!![]()
But the majority of the day was awesome!!!![]()
) The tires picked up some nails plus they were apparently rotting in the inside despite looking okay on the outside. My Dad would do an inspection (looking at belts, hoses, tire pressure/tread, fluids) of all of the cars when I lived at home. Well, Dad does take a look when we go visit---just to make sure that his baby is safe.
Thanks Belle - it has!!!
How's everything by you?
Is it still horribly hot?
Happy Belated Birthday
