MP3 Question

My DD4 (will be 5 in early April) wants an Ipod for Christmas. I've seen some fairly cheap MP3 players at walmart (~$30) and was thinking of getting her one. Will I be able to load songs onto an MP3 using my Itunes account that I use for my Ipod or do I need to use some other system? I downloaded the Hannah Montana songs from Itunes for her a while ago and just want to make sure I can load these on to an MP3.

Thats another way to get around the proprietary iTunes to iPod chain. By the way, have you thought about buying a refurb shuffle from the Apple website ?

Getting songs from iTunes onto an non-iPod can be easy, can be hard. If the song was MP3 that was obtained from somewhere (legally of course) and simply added to iTunes, then you would simply use the other MP3 player's software to load the MP3 onto the other MP3 player. If you used iTunes to rip a cd, and ripped it into AAC format, instead of MP3 format, you may need to convert from AAC into a format that is compatible with your player. If you ripped it to MP3, then do as above and load. If you downloaded something from the iTunes store, then you will need to either burn it to cd and re-rip it, or locate software that will break the FairPlay DRM on the song.
Kinda techie I know, but thats how it breaks down. iTunes won't do it alone, you definitely need the other player's software.
