As we go at the end of September will we need to take mozzie repellant? Probably a silly qu but I recall going to France with the school (too many yrs ago) and it was early Sept and I got bitten to death (I always do!!!).

I'm just concerned about my DDs really :)

Thanks in advance...

I've never heard of anyone being bothered my mozzies at DLRP.
I've been at the beginning of October, and in June, and not seen, or heard, hide nor hair of a mozzie.

If you want to get bitten by something then feel free to have a visit to my house.....lol!

Mozzies love me and we had humid and wet weather at DLRP in July and I wasn't bitten once day or night....

So hopefully you'll be ok. :)

Thanks - I'm more bothered about my 5 month old really as we can't put anything on her repellant wise. Believe me, if there is a mozzie within 100 miles it will find me

I once forgot to put some repellant on one night (in Turkey) for about 10 mins (I then remembered and went back and put some on) and the next day I counted 15 bites on one leg alone!!!

Littlemermaid - not sure what you mean about getting bitten :rotfl:

I spent a while travelling, and I got stuck in a downpour, on a 10 km walk in the rainforest, with my bag off ahead on donkeys. All my trousers stuck to me and the mosquitos are HUGE in southe america and can bite through clothes. My friend gave up counting on my legs when she got to 300. Literally I had no normal skin left! Didn't sleep for nights, just laid in the sweltering heat crying going mental with itch!!

Good job I had malaria tablets!

Emma - do you have a cat? Could it be fleas - sorry don't mean to be rude but my friend had that prob a while back - they'd got in the carpet and were causing her all sorts of issues???

Torsie - that's awful - mine wasn't anywhere as exotic but when I have been anywhere like that I've always had mega DEET stuff! The strongest there is and never had bites thank god. They love my blood :rotfl:

I did have a cat but we got rid of her 3 weeks ago.......So not sure what it is, but i guess i must taste nice!:lmao:

Actually i was bit at DLRP a few weeks ago we were walking through the park just after the dream parade (7.45 ish) and I felt something bite my leg was a bit swollen the next day but it wasn,t bad i just took a antihisamen .But on returning home it went a bit funny and I ended up with antibioctics think I was just unlucky:confused3 The thing is that last year we went to turkey and the year before majorca and I took loads of stuff the family complained they stunk:laughing: but nobody got bit:) It never acured to me to take any thing to the parks

Sprinkling dry flea powder around your carpets and sofas etc, then hoovering it all up, might stop the bites Emma.

It does sound like it could be flea bites from the cat. Fleas can live in your carpets and soft furnishings for a while.

It could be left over from having the cat - if I remember rightly, the flea eggs can stay dormant in the carpet for quite a while, even though you don't have a cat.

:scared:

I only have one bit of carpet so won't take long to hoover.....if it is cat fleas then luckily i havent had my new carpets fitted yet then lol.

Hmm I think I'll take something just in case - it's just poor baby that can't have anything although you can get things but they are pricey (inaudible noise emitting things for the pushchair etc)....

Emma - I agree with the others - prob your cat. They can live on soft furnishings too like sofas... Powder will do the trick and then vaccum :)

Jack sister gets bit awful!! His mum was told they live in the cracks between the floorboards, so on her wooden floor she got a knife and went all along all of the cracks with a knife and got up so many dead fleas and dirt and stuff. Seems to have helped a lot but poor janey still has loads of scars on her legs! :(

Are Mozzies the same thing as mosquitos??

If so...I live in Germany and haven't seen / been bitten by any in the past week or so, so I think the season may be coming to an end since it's been cooler lately ;)

Yes Melanie - it's the same thing :) Hope you have a great time - not long for your trip :)

PS - Think I was just concerned as I got bitten at the beg of Sept last time in France but the weather, as you say, will not be so warm!

we have been in Oct,July and Aug and never seen / been bitten by anything!

and i am usually a target lol

i'm pretty much a mozzie magnet but i've never had any trouble at Disney. I was playing netball outside a few weeks ago all mozzie sprayed up but i think i must have missed spraying my shoulder coz i ended up with 6 bites just on my left shoulder :scared1:
