My Mom and I are planning on moving to the Orlando Area within the next year hopefully by NYE2006. Question is that we have never lived outside of CT much less the same house over the last 23-27 years. This is big for us but we don't know what towns are closest to Orlando that are safe and have nice apartments to live in. If anyone who lives in Florida or the Orlando area or has family who lives there could help me with suggestions as to what towns to look at and which ones to stay away from it would be greatly appreciated.

Its just a 50 something and a 23 year old who will be living down there.

Thanks
Amy and her Mom

My neighbors moved last year down to florida. :sad1: They moved into an area called Hunters Creek. We went and visited last september. You will find the prices close to that of CT. Sorry I can't be of better help. On a good note it only took us 20min to get to Mickeys house.

Hi!
I live in Lake Buena Vista now, about 3 miles from WDW and it's nice here. I love it!! It's "touristy" but, that doesn't bother us. It's kind of expensive being so close to Disney but there are a million restaurants, drug stores and gas stations around here (also more expensive being closer to Disney). (Gas here is about 2.00 and just a few miles down the road it's 1.80)

Next month, DH and I are moving to the Waterford Lakes area- which is east of the city (for reference, WDW is south west of Orlando) and is considered a nice area. It's 30 minutes from Disney. We are moving into an apartment.
We considered Hunter's Creek too, and it is nice, but in the end, we were afraid our neighbors would be kind of loud.
I would steer clear of town of Kissimmee if I were you. The Bay Hill/ Dr. Phillips area is really nice but expensive (that's where Tiger Woods lives).
There are some really nice subdivisions and apartment complexes going up near the airport- usually areas near the airport aren't the greatest but Orlando seems to be the exception to that. I would be more than happy to send you an apartment guide or for rent magazine if you'd like. We have just looked at probably every apartment complex in Orlando, so if I can be of any help, I'd love to.
Happy hunting!
I'll keep thinking........
