Hello!
Not sure where to post this, so I hope this is ok.
I am a former CP and had to go back home for a bit due but am desperately wanting to go back down and work for Disney again! The trouble I've found is that because I can't do a CP or internship right now is that I do not have housing. I have been trying, to no avail, to find affordable housing for rent near Disney (I want to work there part time so I don't want a long commute). I know a lot of CP's end up moving to Abaco Key or Alta Corner apartments, but without a roommate (or 2) it would be really hard to afford. I was wondering if there is a place where people look for other people who are wanting to move down there or CP's who are wanting to stay on after their program. Almost like a roommate matching thing. Any ideas? Craigslist just seems kind of... sketchy. Hoping to go down and start living my dream soon!
Thanks, in advance, for any info!

My fiance and I are looking for a place, too. We're actually looking for something with a decent drive to both Universal and Disney, as he's more interested in working for Universal.

We're looking more for townhome/condo style housing - or even garden homes. I don't even know where to start.

I'd look into Camden, they're a Nationally known apartment complex. They have several properties throughout Central Florida near WDW and Universal. THey also provide discounts for WDW Cast Members. I recently moved out of Camden World Gateway, very close to WDW, gated with a pool, gym, and dog park. The top floor 2/2 cost $1,020/Month after the Discount.

I don't even know where to start.

I know what you mean! I have heard of Camden. I've found a few places, it's just way too much to be able to afford by myself. And any CMs I know are already living down there and not looking to move. I need a moving buddy!

Look at Discovery Palms ... I'm pretty sure that complex is condos now. They're off I-Drive in the Little Lake Bryan area, which is roughly in the "Between Disney and Universal" area that would equal a relatively easy commute to either place.

This is a great thread. My daughter finished the CP program and is now Seasonal. Not sure if it will work out. It would have been nice if she had met someone she trusted while there who had an apartment and she could have given them a few dollars to stay when she came down to work.

Perhaps - fb? any links on the HUB - this might help someone who is still employed there.

Good luck - subscribing just in case for future reference if we need some of the great suggestions here.

Good luck!

Congrats to your daughter! Where did she end up living? they do have a section on the Hub that I'd called Donald's Deals and is like the classifieds for CMs. Unfortunately you only have access if you are a current cast member.

My dd is currently home. She came down in January and was at Chatham til May. She was enjoying it so much, she extended til early August. She went into a different role and they moved her to Patterson. She absolutely love it. She kept saying she wanted to go back someday and work f/t and live there so she applied for seasonal against "my opinion/thoughts". I had wished she would have applied for the CP program again down the road since she is still in school.

Anyway - she needs to come down every six months and work a total of 150 hours. Coming from NY - it would be very, very expensive and not too realistic. You need your own place and transportation. She met a boy while there. He just came down in May for the CP program and will be done and coming home early Jan. (lives 2 hrs. away from us) He is coming up for a week soon for dd birthday.

I am hoping she does not do this seasonal thing - we shall see how it goes. We were thinking of her coming down during her school break in January for 1 week and come down for a month or so in the summer until she gets her hours in. I honestly can't see her doing this for another 3/4f years or until she is done with school. Not practical. That is why I thought if she had met someone who lived there, she could have made arrangements to stay with her. One of her room mates is doing this.

Oh well, we shall see. Long story - sorry :) but it would be nice to hook up with someone while there if that is on their mind.

I just got accepted for the DCP spring program from Feb 3-May 30. Depending how it goes I've always wanted to stay and live there and work for them full time. If you are still looking in a few months is gladly be your moving buddy!

We just booked our trip for 10 days in January during her school break - not sure what she will do in July. I am sure she will need to come down for a minimum of three weeks in July/August to finish her 150 hours. Not sure how she is going to do that. I am not paying for a hotel for three weeks
