Moving resorts at WDW

We are going to WDW in August for 14 nights - we have managed to get an AP rate at POR, so due to the great savings we have made are thinking of spending our last 4 nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge

How easy is it to change resorts - do Disney transfer you bags?(we won't have a car).

I have switched resorts several times, and have always had Disney move my bags for me. We call bell services before we leave, and ask them to come get our bags for transfer to the new resort. They put special tags with the information on the new resort on them. Don't expect your bags until late in the afternoon, though. I'm switching from the Poly to the BC on my next trip.

You could also take a cab between the resorts. It wouldn't cost that much money (I'm guessing under $10).

We moved to a different resort back in 2001, and I swear that I'll never do it again.

The time it took to re-pack some of the things that I had unpacked, combined with the time it took to get to the new resort & have our bags delivered, made it a completely wasted day.

I know that many people do this and recommend it, so maybe I just botched the plan somewhere along the way. I just want to get to a resort, unpack, and ENJOY.

We do the switch quite often. In August I'll be at BCVs for 4 days, switch to the Poly for 2 days after meeting up with DH, then switch to BWVs for a week. I won't have a car so I plan on using a taxi to switch resorts and bring my own bags. The one time we used Disney to transfer the bags it was a disaster.

It is much easier to stick with one resort, but with the right attitude, it can be fun to change around. Just plan on being out of the room until 3-4 o'clock on the day of the switch. I plan on packing a tote bag with bathing suits in case I have to store my luggage until then.
