Moving "reserved" towels?

cubbies would be great, I only really carry my card, and a camra around on the ship except for the last night when getting everyone's e-mails and stuff, so I cubbie would be cool since I don't need a chair. I usually have been walking around looking for a chair and someone see's me and see's a need some where to put my stuff and they usually allow me to take one of their chairs I've met some nice people on cruises

What if people are in the pool? Do you lose your chair if you go in the pool?
I think it is different if there is a wet towel just thrown on a chair because someone was too lazy to deposit it in the used towel bins. Those could be moved right away.
When people have things on the chiar while they go in the pool to cool off, they are entitled to keep their chair.
We all pay a lot of money to cruise.

Not according to DCL guidelines. If no one is in it then its free game. Another situation where the abusers ruined it for everyone else.

I hate chair hogs, but if I get up to get it the pool for a few minutes and get up to see someone has moved my stuff off my chair, I would be ticked. Now, I understand if I had been in the pool for longer than 15 minutes, but seriously, you can tell the difference between someone who is occupying the chair and someone who has saved a few chairs. Mine would normally have the towels laid out, a magazine, subscreen, etc. The chair hogs have one sandle on one chair, the matching one of the next chair. A stack of towels on the next one....

PS - I think the cubbies would be a great idea. It wouldn't solve the problem, but it would help if you were just jumping in for a few a need a place to put your sandals and room key.

Another side to this: when my kids were younger and swam, I couldn't afford to take my eyes off of them. I always tried to get chairs right at the edge of the pool. Now that they are older and good swimmers, I don't need to be hovering at the edge of the pool. We now are happy having chairs anywhere in relative eyesight, just to keep my eye on them.

I wish people would save the chairs closest to the pool for those with little ones so their parents could be really close...

PS - we move stuff a lot. Not anything more than towels, I would never touch anyone's personal belongings...There are 4 of us, but we take only 2 chairs at the most and DH and I camp out on them...

To be honest, in all our trips or on the one cruise we took, this has never been an issue. Whenever we leave also, we always offer up our table/chair to families...

I certainly hope that if I'm in the pool and leave my chair that has my bag w/ ID, camera, etc... on it, along w/ my cover-up & flip-flops.....someone doesn't just come along and push all my stuff off because it's 'free game'. :sad2: I have faith in my fellow DC'ers & we're all onboard to have a nice time.

Saying that, yes - the people that come up at the crack of dawn to reserve lounge chairs and then take off expecting to have them when they come back hours later - they should be pushed overboard. :dance3: Just kidding of course...

That's all I'm saying. I mean, no one's going to be swimming laps or anything. If you're that concerned about keeping your chair, get your butt out of the pool every few minutes and walk over to you chair, just to let people know it's occupied.

I've been up early in the morning getting coffee only to see someone spreading out towels on loungers. I have also seen families use both 4 loungers filled with their stuff as they sat at one of the tables eating.

DG

Were these people staying at the table or were they just eating? If we are planning on spending the day at the pool we will leave our stuff on our chairs while we go and get lunch. I don't think you should have to give up your chair because you are going to be away eating for 25 or 30 minutes.

Why not? As many cruisers as there are on-board, why should you be allowed to occupy two public seats at once? And where do you draw the line? Is that your chair the whole cruise because you shouldn't have to give it up while you're away sleeping for a few hours? Or going to a show for a couple of hours? Or shopping for a few minutes?

Yes, Yes you should give up your chair!!

Being in the pool is one thing, holding them for 30+ minute lunch is another. Why should I go without a chair while your eating?

Thats why Disney says if its not occupied its free game. The people in the pool are the minority and its unfortunate that its ruined for the rest because people want to "claim" a chair for the whole day even if they only use it for a small part of the day.

I also don't think that everyone in a family needs a chair. If the kids are playing in the pool most of the time, they don't need a chair held for them just so they can rest for a short while (shouldn't rest in the sun anyway, it's draining not restful in my doctor's opinion) or grab a quick snack. They can sit on the end of mom or dad's chair for that. There just are too few chairs to "call" them.

We are a family of 6 and we only took 1 or 2 chairs at any given time. Seeing a mom with a chair on either side covered with her kid's stuff - they were running back and forth between pools and drinks and icecream! She needed ONE chair!

OH -- HAVE TO MENTION A MILESTONE
This will change soon on the count . . .
BUT THIS IS MY OFFICIAL 500th POST! :cheer2:

I agree...

and congrats :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

I do think that going to get lunch is a reason that you should give up your chair. Now if you were just getting a hot dog to bring back to the chair and were gone 5 or 10 minutes that is one thing. But if you go to Topsiders and sit there to eat a meal that is completely different. I think that most people will agree, if you are in the pool area and not going to be more than 10 to 15 minutes that is no problem. But if you actually leave the pool area, it's time to give up the chair.

On our Wonder cruise last summer............every day there were 4 chairs covered with matching Disney t shirts personalized with each family members Disney name and never once did I see anyone sitting in them!! We are early risers and they were there early and stayed there all day. Now that is rude..not only did they think that each family member needed their own chair all day long but it was personalized!! Too funny!:lmao:
