Moving really stinks!!!

The big moving day is Friday and we have boxes EVERYWHERE!!!! It seems that as soon as I fill as box and think everything is packed, I find more stuff to fill another box. This is an endless cycle!!!!

Okay......I just needed to vent a little bitand get this frustration out of my system.

Think of me on Friday and please send some pixie dust my way, because Friday is going to be a long day. Then a week after that my family and I will be on a plane to Florida to chill out after the big move.

Yep, totally agree. I'm in the same boat. I think it's a pain in the tukkus, especially since I can't really unpack too much here. We're building a house and renting this one for 7 more months!

At least you'll have a nice vacation to look forward to. Oh, and if you find the flashlights, can you send them to me? LOL! I'm gonna clear out the dollar store as soon as they get some!

I hear ya! I've only packed a few boxes so far and I dread what's coming. Hopefully it won't be any worse than painting the house for 7 straight hours which is what I did yesterday. I just keep telling myself to think about where all of this is leading.

I have to agree but I am ashamed to say that I LIKE moving! I actually am moving in 2 months and I'm looking forward to it!

I moved my household 3 times last year.... BIG FIASCO... so we are STILL packed up. And mind you, it's only me and my 11yo son and six rooms of furniture! We knew we'd only be here temporarily so it wasn't that big of a deal. The next one will be much more permanent, hopefully!

Ugghh! I feel your pain. We are mmoving in a couple of months, but have just put our house on the market. DH took last week off, and he spent all of last week, and we both spent the weekend packing up endless boxes of stuff for storage. We haven't even gotten to the packing up to leave part yet!

I hate moving.

We have the chance to move to the first floor of the building we live in now. I don't want to. I know it's 3 more rooms, but honestly, the thought of carrying all our stuff down 3 flights of stairs just to move to a bigger apartment is just not worth it to me.

I can throw a little of my own wisdom from experience out there! When you are packing the very last of things, it is often the stuff you will need first. Mark all sides of those boxes, especially bedding and towels, with something colorful and eye-catching. When you see that box get carried in put it someplace safe and special. I put a set of sheets, a blanket (we live in warm weather, one is usually plenty), pillows and pillow cases, a couple towels, soap in a ziploc bag and shampoo if you aren't hand carrying any plus a couple rolls of toilet paper and a roll of paper towels into a big box - mark it with red or bright blue on all 4 side plus the top and bottom and know that with the contents of that box I can be comfortable for a night.

Things I (re)learned from moving DFi last week:

- don't pack tools that you'll need in the new place, like a hammer and screwdriver.
- don't pack the box cutter and/or scissors! Makes it really hard to open those boxes without them!
- make sure to keep aside some cleaners - those magic erasers are great for getting those little scuff marks and fingerprints.

We just moved in June and I'm still painting and unpacking! I've told DH that I have a house I love now and they'll just have to take me from here to the nursing home because I NEVER want to do this again!

I too feel your pain. I just moved across country two weeks ago. We put lots in storage since we are temporarily in an apartment until our house is ready (hopefully by April). Yeah!!! We get to do this all over again!

I feel for you! We are moving tomorrow and Frances is here raining on us!

We have been living between 2 houses and I am ready to be back to 1.

I am very excited about our new house though!

I move at the end of the month. I honestly thought back in January I'd never move again. I hate it. More than anything I feel bad for my kids.

Moving is the worst.

I know your pain. We are moving in 2 weeks and are currently packing. We have lived in this house for 9 years and we can't believe how much you can accumulate in that time.

Also thanks for some of the tips they are very helpful and I know we will definately use them.

Don't do what DH did - Instead of listing the contents of a box on the outside he labelled it MISCELLANEOUS. That's fine, but when you have 20 boxes labelled that way it is hard to find anything.

We've been here 4 years and are still looking for some stuff in another MISCELLANEOUS box.
