Hi all,

Have been following SBD for about 2 months + now - I lost 9lbs in the first 2wks then nothing. I have now decide to move over to WW as I want to introduce fruit/salads and veg back into my daily eating, and as I am not losing anything on SBD don't see how eating lots of meat and no fruit etc is good for me.

So advise needed - shall I intro carbs back in, or follow abit of SBD with WW (i.e counting everthing) or shall I start to eat things like brown rice, jacket potato etc...

I am scared that I will put the 9lbs back on before I start losing with WW.

I know now I can eat a main meal without potatoes, rice or pasta, but if I start to follow WW I know I can eat these in small portions...

I am soooo confused, as I know from reading the Atkins and SBD books what carbs do to your body, however if I follow WW I also know you also lose weight if you eat them.

What do you guys thinks? all advise please.

Nattky

p.s here is what I had today, trying to follow WW:-
Bran flakes
WW soup
1/2 slice of bread
tuna steaks, salad and veg
low fat yog
2 small biscuits
milk (cereal/tea)
I think about 14 points (can have 20)

You don't have to be a WW member to check out the WW message boards. I am not following the SBD but I do see people who are combining WW and SBD post on the WW boards.

Here is a link to one thread where people are discussing the SBD. If you have some time, try browsing through the WW forums for SBD threads. Good luck! I'm sure you'll have loads of success!!!

I went from Atkins to WW successfully. I just switched over and started counting points instead of carbs.

I didn't gain any weight, in fact I had a nice loss my first week.

But I did learn from Atkins and that knowledge has carried over into WW. I almost always choose a non-starchy vegetable. And now that I know I can survive a dinner without rolls, I usually pass them up. I know I can have these things occasionally, but I'm just used to not eating them. This actually makes WW easier, because I use more 0 point veggies than 1 point veggies, and I cut down on my points by not eating rolls or pasta side dishes at supper.

I have added things like oatmeal, cream of wheat, milk, and whole wheat bread to my diet.

So, in a nutshell, I don't focus on carbs anymore, but my low carb habits have stuck around.

Nattyk,

When I started with WISH my plan was to kick-start on Atkins through the holidays and then segue over to WW for the long haul. I've done WW before and know it works and I like the idea of learning how to eat and deal with all kinds of food. My plan for the transition is to do low points spent on any complex carbs; actually treat rice, bread and potatoes as a 'treat' as opposed to a staple in my plan. Also to eat 'real' foods...if I need mayo on something to use the real thing, not the lowfat version and just use less and spend the points. I plan to avoid pre-packaged meals as much as possible to. Most of the 'lowfat' products out there are loaded with sugar and/or salt to make up for missing taste. At least, this is the plan.......by the first of the year I may be totally converted to an "Atkins for Life" lifestyle!

Good luck finding the plan that works for you!

thanks for all your advise - sounds like this is a popular option. I think I will be happier back on WW so I can eat fruit etc again. But have learnt from Atkins/SBD that I can go with some carbs and chocolate etc.

Will let you know how I get on.

Cheers
Nat

Let me know when to change your plan on the roster, okay? Good luck with this, finding the right plan is half of the battle in reaching goal.

Nat,

I'm not trying to dissuade you from your decision to go to WW or anything, I just wanted to let you know that you can have fruit on the SBD. I don't eat a lot of it personally because it tends to cause cravings for me, but I know some members who eat a piece of fruit every day. Also, you don't have to eat a bunch of meat if you don't want too. You can do a vegetarian SBD just as easily.

Do what is right for you! Hope you find much success. :D
