moving between resorts - DVC response to me

I recently had a thread about my planned trip, and a side discussion regarding a charge for moving luggage between resorts came up. I asked DVC and this is the response I received:

"As long as you are moving from one Disney owned and operated resort to
another like when you are going from DISNEY'S BOARDWALK Villas from
DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM Villas – Jambo House, yes they will move your
luggage. You would just visit Bell Services the day before you switch
resort to make these arrangements. They will set up a time to come to
your room and collect your luggage. They will then store it until they
take it to the next resort and turn it over to their Bell Services."

They didn't mention any $25 fee, so I am assuming that nothing has changed and that there is currently no fee.

Guess I missed the original thread. Yes op this is exactly how I've always known it to be. As mentioned tipping on both sides is customary.

I agree no fee at the present but you should also know that DVC has nothing to do with Bell Services and any fee that they may charge so they aren't the best source for this information. Bell Services is part of Disney Resorts and they control what, if any to charge.

As of May when we had a split stay no fee had been enacted-just gave tips to BLT and SSR bellhops

I've done the aplit stay luggage move many times, and have never paid any fee. Everything has always worked smoothly.

I've read one report that a couple of weeks ago somebody's sister or SIL was charged $25 to move. No other reports though.

At the end of June, we moved twice and there is no charge, though we tipped both dropping off the luggage and when receiving the luggage.

I'm definitely calling MS tomorrow then! I'll be doing a split stay in October. It seems totally unfair to have to pay if the only reason you're doing a split stay is because the same resort wasn't available for the whole trip. Due to airline changes, I had to come in a day early and couldn't get reservations at the resort I'm at the rest of the week-even with the waitlist, I'm not counting on it-BCV during the F&W? So I hope they're not charging $25! And since it's a solo trip, one suitcase? If they do, I foresee a taxi ride.

That was me that responded to that post. I should have checked that I was in the DVC resort forum when I responded. I didn't specify when I responded that she went from Wilderness Lodge to the Boardwalk. It was the Wilderness Lodge to the Boardwalk Inn. She wasn't staying in the villas on points. I don't know if her experience was unusual. I just assumed that bell services was implementing that stupid charge to everyone. If that happens to me this Fall, I'll take a taxi. Hopefully, its not the case but she's always been a pretty reliable person.

I've seen one post in Resorts about this and that post that I saw was someone saying Bell Services or someone told a guest this was coming. But it hasn't happened. Someone may have reported it in a trip report that I haven't seen, but I think this like one of those Telephone game rumors.

Actually the customary for moving luggage like delivering luggage is tipping at the destination. Obviously this is a somewhat unusual circumstances where a variation is reasonable but I don't believe there's any customary situation that would suggest tipping on both sides.

We have always tipped at the receiving end. We drop our bags at bell services as we are leaving the first resort, so not tipping for bringing the bags down to them. But after they are transferred to our next resort then, yes tipping there and the amount would depend on if we picked up at bell services or they brought them up to us.;

If you deliver your luggage to bell services I wouldn't tip but if they came to the room to collect it I would.

I totally agree. We drop bags at bell services if we have a late flight but only tip when we retrieve our bags.
