Well, we just came back from a weekend in Minneapolis where dh accepted a new job offer. We have been living in Mass. for the last 7 years. All four of our kids have been born here. They are 3, 4, 5, and 6. We decided to put an offer on a house (that was accepted) and are now in the process of moving! The house won't close until November though; which is good because we haven't gotten our house in Mass. prepared to go up on the market. (We need to do some painting and finish up some home projects first).

So, since we know where we will be living, I wanted to get the kids into the new school instead of starting here in Mass. and pulling them out a month or so later. So, I have been busily packing up stuff to get the kids and I through two weeks alone in Minnesota (at which time my dh will show up with more stuff to get us through the next 2+ months). The rest of our stuff will get put in storage and be brought out when we close on the house.

In the meantime, I am having super anxiety about getting our house sold! So, pixie dust, prayers and anything else would be great!

I am going to miss my friends and family so much! We have all of dh's family out here and my sister and LOTS of friends. I just hope that we can all make some new friends and that we'll be able to come visit family and keep them involved in our lives!

We love Mass but the job offer and the housing market were so incredible there.

Anyone else make such a hasty move or have stories to share (would love to hear some good-ending stories!).

Yep, did it in April. Missouri to Texas. DH had to transfer, as the job market is shrinking there.

Did the same thing you did, bought a house before selling the old one. We made our house a showcase/display and it sold in 8 days. Lots of anxiety.

The day we were supposed to move, dd and I got food poisoning. Not fun. We laid on the bathroom floor for 12 hours. No fridge, no furniture, nothing not FUN!
It was an event and I had to close on the house "by proxy". I missed the closing!
It all worked out in the end.

My DH and I were married this past October, he received a job offer in November and we were down in Orlando in December! It all happened so fast but we do not have children so we didn't have to worry about school or any of those aspects. Our condo sold in about 3 weeks and we are now in the process of building a house down here. Everything worked out perfectly and there is no looking back!

Congratulations and Good Luck!!!! :sunny:

Thought I was alone. My DH accepted a job offer 3 hours away so first he's getting a little apartment then we are going to fix up our house, (carpet and paint) then we are going to put it on the market and find another house and move. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa.
We just bought this house brand new 2 years ago, but you have to go where the money is these days. The gas prices alone will kick your behind and of course we must feed our Disney obsession with frequent vacations! ;)

HI minmate. Just wanted to welcome you to Minnesota. I am a lifer here. Where in the cities will you be. I am in Oakdale, which is a suburb of St. Paul. Hope you like it here. There is always lots to do. (Still don't care much for the winters but I am use to them). Lynn
