The Changeling
A Beautiful Mind
When Harry Met Sally
Mamma Mia
Twilight
Alice In Wonderland
Joe and the Volcano
Forest Gump
Sleepless In Seattle
Any Harry Potter Movie
Avatar

You can also search by actor/actress or genre

Recently as in recent releases? or just recently? I watch a lot of oldies and my tastes tend to run to musicals, stage productions, and more "kid" movies rather than typical "blockbusters"...

Newer movies I have watched recently and enjoyed:

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland
Avatar
My Life in Ruins (total chick flick)
Julie and Julia
Angels and Demons

Older movies I have watched recently and enjoyed:
My Neighbor Totoro (with my kids - a little odd)
Newsies
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Cirque du Soliel: Journey of Man (this was amazing)

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas- incredibly sad, but very good movie.
The Family Stone- one of my favourite family drama/comedies.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Whatever Works- I love Woody Allen and really enjoyed both of these!

i'll second angels and demons. let's see...sherlock holmes, indiana jones and the crystal skull (although the ending is totally ridiculous), 27 dresses, the blind side, the ugly truth, the proposal, did you hear about the morgans, star trek, taken, confessions of a shopaholic, race to witch mountain, up, shooter, the mummy: tomb of the dragon emperor. those are some we've seen in the past few months through netflix, that we enjoyed. we've also been watching the first season of fringe, and are waiting for the first disc of seaon 1 of the big bang theory to arrive.

Shutter Island was just released on DVD and it's an awesome movie!!

DW and I absolutely loved (500) Days of Summer! :thumbsup2 We got it through Netflix and ended up buying it before we even returned the disc!

ETA:

We also just saw through Netflix, and enjoyed:

The Fantastic Mr. Fox
Coraline

I Love You Man was so-so

I have Harvey (old school!) and The Soloist home at the mo' but haven't watched them yet.

I agree with a lot of these movies listed, but I think the best idea is to go through the process of rating movies you've already watched so Netflix will start recommending stuff for you. It works for me, most of the time. But poor DW has eclectic tastes and the algorithm doesn't know what to pick for her. :rotfl:

I have this problem all the time. Sometimes the recommendations for me are right on, sometimes they are SO out in left field!! :upsidedow I have crazy-weird tastes though. I confuse Netflix. Its a talent.

DH and I just watched "It's Complicated", with Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, and we both really, really enjoyed it.

In fact, when Netflix got it back and asked me to rate it I checked "loved it" and I almost never do that. Usually check "liked it" or sometimes "really liked it" but this one I absolutely loved.

Another vote for this one!!! This was the best movie I've seen in a long time. OMG, the scene with Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin., you know the one I'm talking about...I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard :lmao:

Amelie is an instant watch and one of my faves. Delightful! Another instant is Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Not as good as the book but a cute teen romcom.

Freedom Writers has been one of my Netflix fav's!

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland
Avatar
Sherlock Holmes
Up in the Air
It's Complicated
Shutter Island (heavy, dark movie - not for everyone)

i don't think this forum will accept the titles of the movies i've seen most recently on dvd :rolleyes1

Oh snap.

Speaking of which, the last movie I watched was Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Certainly not for the kids, or those with weak stomachs, the easily offended.... and well, most people, but wow, it is a funny movie!

my fiance lives 12 minutes from where zack and miri was filmed, we love that Ralph's Army Store they show in one of the drive-by/ scenic shots(it has a warhead on a stretcher out front when it's open)

I'm into alot of B-movies and weird horror, but these ones I enjoyed:
-Any Mystery Science Theater 3000
-ZA: Zombies Anonymous
-Fido
-Meet the Robinsons( I just watched that last night and could not believe I had never seen it)
-Empire of the Ants( so bad it's funny)
