I am over the moon thrilled that FINALLY the theaters have some films that are worth seeing after such a long miserable drought.

This past weekend we saw both Alien: Romulus which was fantastic and Deadpool & Wolverine, which was amazing - both were worth every dime. Pretty sure action is my fav genre but there are lots of trailers that got my attention.

I have quite a few in mind I want to see next, anyone see anything recently and want to help me choose?

I am hitting BeetleJuice Beetlejuice in about an hour! I did enjoy Alien: Romulus too.
Beetlejuice is totally on my list!

Please come back and say what you thought of it, I was just saying to my son that I would go every sigle weekend if good movies kept coming out!

Speak no Evil looks like a good October movie, James McAvoy totally got my attention in Split. He has those super creepy micro expressions that are so jarring.

Going to see Beetlejuice this weekend - we like going to the movies whenever there is a good (to us) movie playing. I especially like it when there is something good over the Christmas holidays - love going on Christmas Eve morning.

Just got back. I really loved it. It's a crazy movie though - it's like the first one on steroids! It's really out there in many ways, but that works for me. You really just can't beat Burton, Keaton, Elfman - they have quite the formula.

I just got home from seeing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and I would recommend it especially if you love the original. IMO this is how you do a sequel to a beloved film correctly. I legit laughed out loud at a few jokes (even though no one else did so maybe I'm the oddball 😅).

Idk if it's still in theaters but don't go see Borderlands. Genuinely one of the worst movies I've seen in years. Makes every Disney live action remake look like Citizen Kane.

I kind of found that too. There were a couple of jokes that I just laughed out loud at and nobody else did. It's like they weren't watching a comedy! I especially reacted to a couple of messed-up digs that were maybe not as easy to pick up on, but still. I definitely loved the movie!

saw beetlejuice2 today-i think it's one i may appriciate more with a subsequent viewing. it just seemed lacking in some of the storylines (too quickly resolved). it did not quite capture the feeling of the original. i saw reagan last week and was impressed with dennis quaid's performance. he did a good job portraying r.r. vs. doing a characature.

Literally no one else in my half full screening laughed at anything so I felt like either my sense of humor is out of wack or the scenes weren't funny after all lol

I do think the movie has some faults (not going into specifics without spoilers) but they weren't huge enough to ruin the movie for me.

Also Danny Elfman didn't need to go THAT hard for the score for this movie, dang.

Yeah, I kinda felt that way too - and the jokes were indeed funny - very!

Danny always brings it!

I recently saw It Ends With us with my two daughter-in-laws and one of my daughter-in-law's mom. We all went because we read the books. I had not gone to to see a movie in years.....................Would love to see Beetlejuice - but not sure I will get to see it at the movies. Most likely like many other movies, when it hits cable at home. Have never been much of a movie goer.

I would like to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.... I've been a fan of the original forever. I saw the stage musical last year and was heavily disappointed so hoping for way better with this sequel film.

I'm also interested in seeing Reagan. Not much else caught my eye lately but I haven't been paying a lot of attention either.

Recently we've gone to see

A Quiet Place 3
Deadpool and Wolverine
Reagan

I didn't like A Quiet place but it's probably my own fault, because we didn't watch any trailer and just assumed it was following up #2. It completely was not that.

Interestingly we really enjoyed Regan. My wife told me we were going to see it with my in-laws and I had zero expectations or knowledge outside of the fact I remember him very well as a President. But it was pretty good I thought.

I was afraid that Regal has stopped doing the Regal Mystery Movie but am glad to see it is back on the calendar for this Monday.

I have seen so many movies that I would never have seen at the theater, probably not even on streaming, by attending the mystery movies.

Some have been absolute turds but most have been at least entertaining.

This Monday will be the 39th mystery movie. I have seen 30 of them.

I love going to the movies.

Anora promises to be good. Out in a couple of weeks.

I assume you're talking about A Quiet Place: Day One. We just watched that on HBO Max and I thought it was decent enough but felt it actually didn't go into enough of how the creatures were there.

To your comment about not watching the trailer TBH the name would have clued me in since I've seen the other two movies, that's not to say something against you just that it's a bit like The First Purge where it came movies later but you knew without seeing the trailer it was about events preceding one of the other movies. The other two movies jump right into the action, Day One implies well Day One, not sure if you caught it but a character from the second movie is featured as a character in the Day One movie. That said I can see how you'd feel watching it if you thought it would just continue on because the tone was IMO different than the other movies.

BUT as far as prequels/spin-offs go I was sorta left feeling like I needed a prequel to the prequel like what are these things, why did they come to Earth and so on because it ended up being more of a "slice of life" kind of film instead of giving more explanations, we only found out limited information in it that often come with prequels to horror or apocalyptic films. Now it has me wondering if they will do another movie that takes place between Day One and the timeline of the first film.

How was this? My daughter mentioned it because of a book but she wasn't sure where it would land on the tearjerker scale & knows I generally refuse to pay for theater tears as I call them.

This is what I expected it to be and totally wanted to see it for this reason. Was it good on it's own, whatever it was, once you get past the disappointment?
