Very, very true. My Mom is Japanese and my Dad is of Irish/Scottish descent and when the topic of interracial relationships come up, folks never think of our family in that equation. Doesn't bug me, just makes me think, "HEY! HEY! HEY! We're interracial!!! Look at me! Asian green eyes! Come ON!"![]()
One of my favorite movies of all time is "Come See the Paradise" (1990) with Tamlyn Tomita and Dennis Quaid. It was set during WWII and showed the affects of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the Japanese internment camps on their courtship and marriage. Very well done and very moving!
The Timothy Hutton movie that RealMickeysGirl is referring to is called "Mr. and Mrs. Loving." It was a made-for-tv movie (also starred Lela Rochon as Mrs. Loving) that documented the true story of how Mr. and Mrs. Loving successfully fought to overturn the law against interracial marriage.
