Movies to watch before trip

Hi, I was wanting to find out what are some good movies and such for our 3 year old daughter to watch before our trip? I want her to try and get use to the characters before we go in hopes that she will not be scared by them.

I swear by the sing a longs. especially "Disneyland Fun". It gives a good idea as to the size of the characters, as they show them with children. We used this on video 12yrs ago when we took our triplets & it worked great. We used it again with our youngest (presently 2 1/2) and it worked well with her too. She however has been brainwashed by the rest of us. We found it at FYE on dvd a couple of weeks ago. I was so thrilled. Now we can watch it in the car.., ah, ... I mean SHE can watch it in the car.

Also, you might want to warn her that the characters don't talk. We explained this to the triplets that there are so many different people visiting disney that they could never learn all those different languages. So to be fair they don't talk at all. It took a long time for them to ask why the "human" characters talk. I think they were about 9 yrs. old.

There are a number of shows to see at WDW. If you will be seeing any of them, seeing the movie before you go might help. Here are some of the shows that are offered that I can think of off the top of my head:

The Lion King
Beauty and the Beast
The Little Mermaid
Muppets 3-d
Bug's Life 3-d (this 3-d show might be too scary, but if you plan to check it out seeing the movie would be a good idea)
Finding Nemo (interactive at the living seas)

Last year Stitch was everywhere.

Cinderella
My now 3 year old insisted she had to see the "Cinder-drella-ella" castle and when she did... well the look in her eyes was worth every penny!

Also check out the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, House of Mouse, JoJo's Circus and Bear in the Big Blue House on the Disney Channel.
My daughter had seen these things maybe once before we left and she recognized all of them at Disney! Playhouse Disney at MGM was her favorite.

Peter Pan is a good one,

Anything Winnie the Pooh, that will get them ready for Crystal Palace

Anything from playhouse disney, especially JoJo

Aladdin, Jungle book 1 or 2

I remember we were worried about how DS would do with the characters, and we went to Chuckie Cheese (fate worst than death) well, the big rat was there walking around, and we kind of used him to gauge how DS would handle characters at Disney, and help him warm up to him, to be better prepared for WDW.

If you want to get your child familiar with the traditional characters, ie Mickey, Minnie and pals, I would have to say the Disney's Funny Factory DVDS are excellent. They have DVDs that are specific to each character, my DD has the Donald Duck Vol. 2 disc and my DS has the Mickey and friends disc. I bought these at Best Buy but was in Toys R Us yesterday and they have a much better selection. The House of Mouse Christmas special has almost every character in it and my kids watch it year round.

I got the Sing Along videos (Small World, Beach Party, Campground) because they are live characters (not cartoons), filmed interacting with kids at the parks. I also ordered the free planning dvd from Disney as it shows all the parks. My son watched them and at the time was afraid of Santa. By the time we got to WDW, he was somewhat familiar with the characters. Now if they were not on the video, he was afraid and we had to walk him up to greet them. Once he saw Mickey, he took off running, bypassing the line. We saved Chef Mickeys (character dining) for the very last day and by then he was used to them.

I agree with the Disneyland Fun sing a long. We've been watching Disney movies via Netflix for the past several months, an I came across the sing a long at the library. My four year old watched it many times a day, for the two weeks we had it. It showed the rides, and the characters, even if it was at Disneyland and not WDW.
