I know the movies they show are 50's sci-fi movies. My question is are there any that show spiders? When I told me husband I made a PS for lunch, he said are you sure they might show giant spiders or something. Spiders are my achilles heel, especially tarantulas. :scared: I really didn't think they would show anything too scary because of so many faimlies with small children, but now he has me paranoid. :worried: I think he might just be messing with me, please ease my fears. Help!!

Honestly, I don't remember any spiders. To tell you the truth the focus really is not on the movies for us. We are usually talking, eating and thinking about what we are going to do next. The movies are there just for entertainment purposes, not to make you sick. They are all pretty much stupid B movies with giant tomatoes :scared: and stuff like that but I don't remember any spiders. I think I would of remembered cause I hate really scary movies and I hate spiders too!!!! :earseek:

I think they show the trailer to Them, about the irradiated Giant Ants, although I am not entirely sure. That was my kids favorite movie when they were little. I know that they show The Blob.

Its all just the trailers to movies, not the movies. I don't remember any trailer lasting anymore than a minute or so so if one is of a spider, you can just ignore it. The trailers aren't a major part oof the restaurant anyway, that why I can't remember if they show one or not. Too much other stuff going on...smjj

Thank you, I feel so much better now. I didn't realize it was only the trailers so I think no matter what it is I can handle a minute or two. Thanks again!! :goodvibes

Yeah...I hate spiders too. I feel like there was a giant spider one, but it may have been the ants one previously mentioned. But again, they are just trailers, although they do repeat once or twice while you're eating. So you may have to ignore it a couple times.

there is a giant spider in one of the trailer, but it's so fake and hokey, it's laughable. It looks like a big stuffed animal, really. The whole point to these sci-fi coming attractions is the ridiculousness of these 1950's sci-fi movies. At the time they were meant to be scary, but many of them now are looked upon as hillarious. These movies are cult classics too many, myself included.

Oh great now I am going to have to just stare down at my food the whole time! :rotfl:
You see my problem is sometimes just mentioning the word tarantula freaks me out. So even if it is hokey and fake looking, I will get a picture of a real tarantula in my head that will torture me all day. I know it is very irrational but what can I say? As a matter of fact I am worried about being able to sleep tonight after having talked about it here. I know my family will really enjoy this restaurant so I am going to suck it up and go. I feel better at least being prepared. I think I will just take lots of pictures of the food (even if it is someone else food, just kidding) for the food thread and maybe plan the next days activities to keep me distracted.

Thanks again, like I said I would rather know ahead of time what might be there. :goodvibes

You could ask the waiter/waitress if there is such a trailer (which I really still don't remember) and then ask him at what part it comes up. So this way you can be prepared to look away. Think happy thoughts :cloud9: but I have one question for you. How do you feel about palmettos? :earseek:

You just had to bring them up didn't you??

Funny thing about those palmetto bugs, they don't scare me as much as the tarantulas although I have actually had personal experience with them. When we first moved to Florida from NY, we lived in some apartments in Altamonte Springs. Well one evening my sister and I went to get something out of our bedroom closet, turned on the light and boom.... the biggest, ugliest roach comes flying at us! :scared1: We went screaming downstairs like someone was trying to murder us. Oh I can laugh about it now, but talk about not being able to sleep.

Thanks for the idea about talking to the waiter/waitress. I will definitely ask what trailer comes before the spider( if there is one ), so I can look away.

I just love the DIS, people are even willing to help you get through your irrational fears. What a great group of people! :disrocks:
