my DH and DS are away with boyscouts for the weekend, so DD and I decided to go to the movies and see Bridge to Terabithia (good movie, btw...I bawled my eyes out and DD patted me on the arm and said "don't cry mom!") Anyway...
You know, I understand that it's expensive to take your whole family to the theater! We are a family of 4 and by the time we are done with admission, drinks, popcorn, etc. we easily spend $60 or more!
We sit down and waited for the movie to start. This family comes walking up and sat down behind us. I should have known there was going to be trouble when mom carried a huge bag, the type you take for a day at the beach. There was a mom, dad, and 4 kids! The little girl carried a huge bucket of popcorn! About 5 minutes later, mom and little girl get up and walk towards the exit again with an EMPTY bucket of popcorn! I was like "what the heck...there is NO way they finished that". I kind of glance back and everyone sat there with a gallon sized ziplog baggie full of popcorn! Ok, fine...like I said, it's expensive to take 2 adults and 4 kids to the theater, so they split the popcorn! They come back with another bucket of popcorn (you get free refills if you buy the tub). The movie starts and soon after, I hear candy wrappers opening behind me and the fight over the candy starts. They open up bags of chips and you know how noisy it is when you eat out of a bag of chips. They passed chips bags around NON STOP!!! Crunch, crunch! There was other candy involved too! I wanted to scream!! It's one thing to bring candy to the theater, I must admit, I have done it too...but for crying out loud, bring something that doesn't make so much darn noise!!
Then, they opened up soda cans constantly! They made noise non-stop throughout the whole movie! Ummm...have you heard of water bottles or those small soda bottles? Much better to bring to the movies! The dads cell phone rang at some point (they tell you to silence your phones before the movie starts). Well, it rang about 4 or 5 times, and I fully expected him to silence it and go on his merry way! But no....he ANSWERED it and talked for about 4 minutes!! First of all, how can you even hear what the other person says inside a loud movie theater. Second, how rude!!!
I swear, the nerve of some people, I will never understand it. I get so frustrated sometimes. I really try to be tolerant, but sometimes enough is just enough! Some people really think they are alone in the world and can do whatever they please, with no respect for others!
Anyway, we didn't let it ruin the movie for us, but it really was annoying!
