We were set to be in WDW Sept 8-16, but b/c of Irma, we moved it to Sept 12-20. (We felt more comfortable arriving after the expected landfall verses just before it, not knowing at all how bad it will be.)

We had to give up all our fast passes and dinner res. for the 9th-12th.

We checked Fast Pass+ and of course anything worth getting isn't available for our new days we tacked on. Is the old fast pass system still intact where we can get them out of a kiosk? If so, is it better to not get any Fast Pass+'s at all so that we are freed up to hopefully get them for FOP, 7 Dwarves, etc?

If you're asking if there are still paper ticket kiosks, there are not. There are still kiosks for making FP+ reservations, but it's the same system as MDE.

You can make FP+ reservations for what you can get now, and keep checking the app/website to see if you can modify them for something better.

Sadly if the FPs you desire are not available in MDE for pre-booking they will not be available day of at a kiosk - unless you get some major luck. The two systems pull from the same pool.

Not necessarily paper, I don't care about the form they come in :-), but good to know there are still FP kiosks. We haven't been there with our bands yet, so this is all new!

We are specifically trying for FOP and 7 Dwarves b/c we lost those with the reservation change. We were thinking we may be able to get in line at rope drop (and probably still have a 2 hour wait from what I hear!) while one member of our party takes all our wristbands to the FP kiosk and maybe that way we could get on twice even without having FastPass+ for it.

You may find the FP FAQ helpful. The odds of either of those attractions having FPs available day-of are slim.

If they take your MB to the kiosk while you are in line .. neither of those are set up (like most) for them to rejoin you. Download the MDE app to your phone and try to book the FP+ on the app while you are in line together. They are the same availability that is at the kiosk.

The chances of getting FOP and 7DMT are very slim, FWIW... either via app, kiosk, etc - there just is very, very limited supply. RD is your best strategy but likely best to forget any notion about riding twice like you describe.

Did you actually cancel your original FPs? Just FYI, moving a resort reservation does not automatically cancel FPs and ADRs. You'll need to manually do that if you haven't already.

Just to make sure you know, you do not have to manually add FP to your magicbands at a kiosk, you can do that right now via MDE - and you can make any changes or updates via MDE (even on your phone). I would not wait until the day of your visit as availability will only get worst. I do highly recommend checking frequently via MDE for the FP's you want - it is not a guarantee at all but sometime people get lucky. There are all sorts of tips on the FP FAQ. So sorry you had to rearrange your trip but better to be safe than sorry.

I recommend adding FPs now and make them for early in the day. We are here now and had lots of luck with grabbing 4th, 5th, 6th FPs from the app while waiting in line just after using the previously last FP. Not 7D or FOP but most everything else has had some limited availability. Yesterday afternoon we grabbed a FPs for Buzz, Tomorrow land Speedway and Space Mountain after using our first 3.

Last minute changes are a real casualty of the FP+ system. I've seen a number of posts from Irma trip changers deciding to head west instead. All FPs are still available until rope drop there.

We just returned from an 11 night trip and we never saw FP pop up for either avatar ride or 7DMT. Every other ride, yes. Even Test Track. We just kept checking the app repeatedly. You don't need a kiosk.

I highly recommend you read Easy WDW's blog on rope dropping the Avatar Rides. Plan on arriving very early.

I agree with everything posted above by PP's.

FWIW, I would like to add that we just added a last minute trip in October (it's been on and off for a few months, actually, but just rebooked day before yesterday). Obviously FOP and 7DMT FP+ were all gone. We are joining family that do have these FP+'s booked for set times. They are going for 2 weeks, we are going to join them for 4 days. At first, I couldn't match up very many rides with theirs for FP+. Now, I have several that at least overlap. For others, we booked a nearby attraction that was available during the same time frame (we will change it if we find what we really want available).

We did manage to get (an obvious cancellation of) 7DMT for the same day as the others but at a very different time, though. I continue to try to modify to a better time - you never know!

Keep checking as often as you can. You may get lucky. It is your best chance at this point.

The other thing that we are doing is planning ways to spend the time waiting for FOP. It is unlikely to get a FP+ for this ride at this late date. I'm going to make sure that I have a good book on Kindle and some easy reads that are short. The good news is that everyone says the queue for fop is worth seeing. I am considering this as my opportunity to see it!!

Good luck!

Based on availability, book the 3 FP+, per park, per day you are interested in now and if you can't get 7DMT or FOP, plan to rope drop them. The FP+ kiosks in the parks are centralized kiosks and not at individual rides - the FP+ system has no resemblance to the old FP system. You are better off trying to adjust your pre-booked FP+ on the fly from your phone on the My Disney Experience app, than going to the kiosks. No one is running around trying to load up on FP's anymore.

7DMT is rock solid... booked mine at 60 days out. There have been cancellations for PPO breakfast @ Be Our Guest which can give you a head start on the 7DMT line (or so I've heard).

Try that as an alternative to 7DMT fastpass.

Btw i am a newbie (haven't been to disney since 1988... but I'm just letting you know what I've been told).

I just had a look at many of the days during your trip. The only FP that I didn't see was FOP (I didn't bother refreshing a lot or that too could probably be found at some point). There were even AM passes available for most headliners on multiple days. Just keep checking.

We were there the last week of August and were not able to get FP+ for either SDMT or FOP, but were able to ride both with no too much of a wait by doing them at rope drop. We got to MK at about 8:30 for a 9 am opening and waited in the spoke for Fantasyland. At RD, there is a bit of commotion and running, which I just don't get for MK, but we just calmly headed to SDMT and were on the ride quickly. The whole family enjoyed it. For our AK day, we arrived at the turnstiles at 7:45 and were off FOP by 9:05. Most of the waiting is outside the park, and then just before the Pandora entrance, but we walked right onto FOP. The crowds look intimidating (large, running, craziness), but were not all that bad in reality. Again, we just calmly walked with the crowds to Pandora. FOP is amazing. We actually went and rode it a second time in the standby line (2 hour wait) and it was worth it![/QUOTE]

Thank you so much for this. It is encouraging to hear!

I would consider trying one of 2 things. Of course, you can always rope drop if these don't work.

1. You might try calling and do to the situation with the hurricane, Disney might re-instate your FP for the later days.

2. Next suggestion is that there will likely be lots of people cancelling trips completely around this time, and I would check back each day bc they could likely cancel and you pick it up. Also, locals might be so busy dealing with cleanup that park crowds could be lower therefore resulting in lower wait times/more FPs available.
