I'm interested in hearing if anyone attended the Unbirthday Party at VB with a disabled child technically older than 12? My son will be 13 when we go but emotionally and intellectually he is much younger - he's on the high functioning end of the autism spectrum.

I plan to ask the CMs while there, but I would like to know if anyone else dealt with this kind of situation? Its not as easy as not telling him about it since his sister, age 11, would be very much interested in attending.

I'm sure if you explain the situation you won't have a problem. I've seen Disney be very accommodating in situations like this.

I'm going to move the is to disAbilities Forum - I think you will get more replies there.

We've done the unbirthday party at VB and it is nothing but NOISE and white SUGAR!

They basically play a long game of musical chairs - but as kids get "out" they join the "band" make the music on a ton of instruments. Then there is a pinata with bags of candy and cupcake decorating.

Honestly - there are tons of great activities at VB - I think the unbirthday party is far from the best offering - although it gives parents about an hour with no kids (no adults allowed - its 100% supervised).

I think the kids Discovery program, SnorkelEARs, Fishing FUNdamentals, and the craft activities may be more to his liking. The CMs are fabulous - and other than the unbirthday - activities tend to be low-key and uncrowded.

Thank you - this is just what I needed to know!
