I was wondering if anyone has moved to FL for Disney. I know it sounds odd but I am seriously considering moving down with my girlfriend because we enjoy the area so much. Have you heard of anything like this? Am I crazy? She's a teacher and would be able to find a job fairly easy. It probably wouldn't be a permanent move but I would love to experience going to CA grill on a whim to watch the fireworks, take a boat from WL to MK, etc. anyway, was just wondering your thoughts?

Life's short. Go for it.

It sounds like you are both young and have no serious obligations (kids, mortgage, parents to care for). Now is the time to try something like this.

Well, so I would sound like an older adult, I told everyone I was moving to Florida for my health. How much better the warmth would be for the arthritis and back condition and blah, blah, blah.

Basically I moved here to be closer to Disney World. Hey, if you can't confess it on this board, where can you? :teeth:

I knew I liked Florida having spent a considerable amount of time here with the WDW vacations. I also lived in Ft. Lauderdale for a short amount of time when I was a kid. My DH had also spent quite a bit of his life down here. I think people have problems with how different it is from the colder areas when they only look at it with the memories of their vacations in mind.

While Disney is still a wonderful perk, I've learned to just plain love it down here for the atmosphere. People are mostly friendly, there's so many non-Disney things to see and the weather for 9 months of the year just knocks your socks off. :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Just remember Fla is not all disney , its hot theres lots of bugs out side of the parks, but ya know i can t wait to move there when we retire !!!lol

I told everyone I was moving to Orlando for my DD. Well, she will soon be off to college and then she wants to move to Scotland. Guess where I'll be? You got it. I'll spend the majority of my time in Orlando and make an occasional trip to Scotland.

:wave2:

I did. At first we were all about WDW. Went all the time... Well, we used to work there. But, now 5 years later - we don't go as much. I love living here and am glad we moved!

hey everyone. thanks so much for the input. I realize the summer months might be a drag and the "magic" of disney might fade away w/repeat visits, but I feel it's a risk worth taking. Atleast I hope so. I would not work at disney...I think that might ruin everything. From your personal experience, do you take advantage of what disney and the other parks/resorts have to offer? I see a lot of you did not live in the orlando area. Does anyone here live there...and if so what do they think of that whole experience? Did you move from an area that had seasons...like the northeast? thanks so much everyone

I lived in PA but visited here a lot. Finally decided to move here with my kids. I live 12 miles from the parks and go quite often.

I don't miss the seasons and find summer here better than PA since I didn't have a/c in PA. I was in Boston over the weekend so I got to see cold and snow. Something I don't miss at all here in FL.
