Move to BWV on Easter Day or stay at resort hotel?

We will be at WDW during Easter next year. We are staying at Port Orleans the first two nights to save weekend points (over 100 pts. for a 2 bdrm at this time of year!) and then moving over to BWV on Easter Sunday for our last 6 nights.

I realized we would be moving resorts on Easter Day. We could stay another night at Port Orleans and move Monday... however, we do love that 2 bedroom!

Any thoughts from someone who has moved on a holiday day...... we do want to go to the Easter Parade at the Magic Kingdom that day and don't want to just hang around and wait for a room.... Thanks for any information

:earsgirl:

I would be anxious to go ahead and move. Just go over and check in first thing in the morning. They will give you your keys, and tell you to call for your room number later. I'm almost %100 sure you won't get your room until later in the day, since they will be extremely busy on Easter Sunday. Just set up a luggage transfer between PO and BWV and leave your luggage in your PO room and head to the parks. When you go back to BWV later in the day, Disney will have tranfered your luggage for you from PO to BWV and you just call bell services and they will deliver it to you. Be sure that you keep any thing out and take it with you to the parks that you might need, as you won't have access to your luggage until possibly 3 pm. (like swimsuits if you think you might need them). We did this last May from Pop Century to BCV and we had no problems. No sitting around and waiting for your room and loosing vacation time. Good luck!

I would move on Monday, save the points, and go about your day. If you were cooking in, yes I would say move, but since you plan on being out most of the day anyway, wait and save the points!!

I would also wait and move on Monday. It sounds like you have a full say planned on Sunday and you may be happier having a room to go back to in the afternoon.

No real problem moving Sunday. May not get room until 4 but that is true any day. Easter Sunday really isn't a bad day to move; no worse than most other Sundays during spring break season. You can have hotel transfer luggage from one place to the other and then check in when you feel like it. Also, I am not sure how you would save anything by waiting to move on Monday -- you would pay for another night at Port Orleans which is expensive that time of year.

Now a different issue: Easter Sunday at MK is extremely crowded (that is true during every day of the Easter season but Sunday is the worst of the worst and the park can reach capacity that day; the Monday after Easter is the second worst day). That Easter Parade, if they even have one this year, is simply the 3 p.m. daily parade with some Easter floats added, and, if they do have it, it will run the entire week leading up to Easter and Easter Sunday, so you can go any day before. If you have not been there Easter time before be aware that absolutely nothing goes on at MK on Easter Sunday that does not occur other days of the week. Thus, advise you avoid that park on Sunday because, apparently, most people believe otherwise, resulting in the capacity crowd while the other parks tend to have their lightest day of the holiday season on Sunday.

I would move on the sunday - just go to BWV early and check in - get your room keys- have your bags transfered if you don't have a car - otherwise leave your luggage in the car. I did this Dec 28th and Jan 1st this p;ast year and there was no line for check in that early in the morning (8am) The 28th we got our GV at OKW at 8 AM - It obviously wasn't rented for the Saturday night-
NY Day we had to wait for the room until 3pm but that was expected. We still didn't have to wait to check in since it was early morning and then went off and did other things. If they have it the parade that is shown on TV will be taped several weeks in advance so the one you see is not the same. We found that out at Christmas the first time we went for the holidays. It was massive crowds and nothing really special about the parade. Good luck with your decison - Have a special trip full of wonderful memories.

I checked in to BWV on Easter Sunday this year with no problem. However, I didn't arrive until evening from Ft. Myers where I'd spent the first part of my vacation. Front desk wasn't busy at all, and I was even upgraded from a standard to a preferred studio. :hyper:

I think I'd be anxious to move over to BWV, so in your shoes I'd probably go for it. Good luck whatever you decide! :D

From above: "If they have it the parade that is shown on TV will be taped several weeks in advance so the one you see is not the same."

There has been no Easter Parade on TV for 5 years as the TV parade was discontinued then. The Easter Parade has gone through several evolutions since then to the point that in 2004 it was extinct, which may also be the case for 2005.

If we are still able to go...we are scheduled to check into the BWV on Easter sunday also....

Every year we check into BWV on Easter Sunday -- this year we were able to check in 9:00 AM! We couldn't wait to get out of Pop Century.

Thanks everyone - we will move on Easter Sunday and skip the parade (if there is one). We saw it in 1994 and it's a great memory - our girls were sooooo little then.

Any thoughts on where to have dinner on Easter? Do any of the restaurants do anything special?
