Disney just called asking if we want to switch from AKL to Saraoga due to construction...what should we do? Is construction that bad?

when are your travel dates and what is your room view? if you are standard view or pool view, go for AKL and request GIRAFFE TRAIL.
they probably just want to offer people a choice, since there seem to be some disappointed guest.
I have visited AKL twice since the construction began and have had no problems.
I love AKL and personally would take the risk.
You have a very good chance of getting an unaffected room.
AKL is beautiful!!

what size room did they offer you? We were upgraded 2 wks from a value to OKW. We had a choice of SSR or OKW. Some were 1 bdrooms or some were studios. The 1 bdrooms went fast so if your going to switch I would do it soon. Are they still offereing the sunrise safarri(sp?) if you switch? IMHO-I would just stay at AKL. There are alot more food options than SSR and it's smaller resort. Look at pictures on allears before you decide. Also consider why you picked AKL and what you would miss if you changed resorts. As far as construction, after a day in the park I could sleep through anything. Hope this helps.I know how hard it is to decide

I think that the construction actually stops around 5:30 p.m. everyday. They definitely don't work all night. A friend and I are staying at AKV in a studio 2nd week of December. All this construction talk scares me. :rotfl: I love to come back and take a nap during the day . . . and I know that since I am a DVC owner and they "warned" me about the construction . . . I can't complain. :goodvibes

I went ahead and waitlisted for BWV for the same time frame. At this point, whatever happens, happens. :confused3 (Oh, if only I really meant that;) )

What are your dates, we are going to be there the end of August. If I was offered a 1 bedroom, I would probably switch.

Yes, please post the dates of your stay as I would like to know if the upgrades are due to heavy construction at the moment or later reservations are of concern as well. October 24th-27th.

I called asking about the degree of construction as well. The CM told me she had just returned from a tour there and the noise IS very noticeable. They are putting up some sort of decorative wall to block more views of the construciton BUT the animals are not coming very close. She also said there is a lot of smoke in the air. We REALLY wanted to risk it and stay there but since we have stayed there in the past, we took the Poly upgrade instead. We were offered Saratoga 1 bedroom for $129.00 per night plus a 200 per night refund. That is a huge savings but I just wanted more of a theme. We are staying a POR for the first 4 nights and then poly for 6.

We are moving as well. Our reservation is for 4 nights starting on the 8th. They called us last week and offered us a two bedroom at SSR and I turned it down. I said I wanted to stay in concierge since we had a Deluxe Club Level room booked. They moved us to Sugar Loaf. Then I started thinking today about how much money we could save and and we called this morning and made the switch. We are paying $80 more total than what we would be paying for one night at the GF. We figured the GF would always be there, but the price at SSR wouldn't. Besides we are staying seven nights in a LVC at the Polynesian before the move.

Well now we get to try a new resort. I hope it's not insane over there it seems so large.
