Great to see so many folks taking care of themselves here in whatever way works for them :)

I've been lowcarbing since November... with a solid exercise program and I have dropped a ton of weight. :)

My loss so far

90lbs
Pants from size 48 to 36 (one pair of 34's that fit even :) )
Shirts from XXL-XXXl to medium and large depending on manufacturer.


Keep at it guys... its worth everything.

That is awesome!

What an inspiration! I bet you will be thouroughly enjoying that cruise you have coming up---I have one planned for October 2004 and hope I can say I lost 85lbs by the, only 68 more to go for me!

Make sure you post after the cruise. I would love to hear how you did, what choices you made etc, especially regarding Atkins!

Thanks for the inspiration--it is a TRUE accomplishment and you should be VERY proud!

It's stories like yours that inspired me to go Atkins...I'm on day 3 and I'll be on these boards everyday looking for support and inspiration!!!

I've actually been doing induction since I started the diet.. that and a lot of exercise.

I lift weights 3 days a week now and swim 3 days a week.

I'm actually going to be doing a Carb shock this weekend which I'm a little nervous about but what the heck :)

As far as behaving on the cruise, I'm fairly certain that I am going to "eat freely" while aboard but I'm sure I wont go overboard.

But its ok. Its a decision I'm making.. not anyone else.. not mood swings... its a decision just to enjoy a vacation and then come home and get back into the swing of things.


I will be bringing crystal light and Diet Mountain Dew onboard with me ;)

Induction since November??? That's a loooong time!!! :eek: :eek: :eek: You must have incredible will power!!!

I never realized that you could just keep going on induction...I just keep saying "it's only two weeks". I just want to know when I can have a beer! LOL :eek:

And what is a Carb shock??? :confused:

carb shock is a weight lifters trick. You take a day and just go carb crazy. Ive been low carb for so long my body has completly adjusted to this way of eating. So... Im going to Shock it buy providing carbs the old fashioned FDA approved way... and then feel sick for a day or so.. and then watch the pounds start to slowly come off. :) My first 3 months is actually where I lost the most weight Nov-Oct-Dec = 60lbs gone its been slow ever since.. but Im not complaning not one bit. :)

When I started I was going to the gym twice a day just to do cardio. 15 minutes each visit to start... then slowly moved up. :)

I'll let you know how the carbfest goes sat. :)

You can do induction for as long as you can stand it.

A good thing for me was finding that i was tolernt to caffine and to sugar alcohol... bars and nonesuch didnt throw me out of ketosis and I've eaten more chocolate this past year then my whole life. Pure Dee'light has a wonderful 0 carb dark chocolate thats better then most every chocolate ive tasted. Some people are not as lucky and have to avoid caffine and avoid sugar alcohols.

Your in a good time to start doing atkins. Major grocery chains are starting to carry low carb bread. you can get the bars almost anywhere and the carborific companies are actually start to feel the pinch in their pocket books because buyers are going to low carb life styles :)


As for beer.. Michalobe Ultra 2 carbs per bottle. Its a light tasting beer best drunk in hot weather :)

I love atkins, and you are sure not to go "overboard" on your trip-have a great time and tell us how you it went!!
I am excited to see how your carb shock goes! I am basically still eating "induction style" just some extras thrown in here and there. I had surgery last week, and realized on the 4th day after that there had to be sugar in the IV, because I felt horrible-headachey, etc. BUT, I have lost 2.5 pounds since Tuesday. I'll take whatever I can get!!!;)

I'm not going to post what I ate.. but.. lord.. I ate carbs.. I promise.. sick to my stomach for most of the day today... I'll be sailing back into ketosis over the next few days I'm sure.

You are so great.....losing all that weight.......Well Done!!

I am on Day 8 of Atkins and am doing OK so far.

I felt vile the first 2 days but its got better.

Its hard to do Atkins at the moment here in the UK, the bad press its getting is unbelievable with doctors , dieticians, and the newspapers all jumping on the bandwagon!!

I can't tell anyone I'm doing it just yet because I get all these "experts" telling me I'm a fool/idiot. Most of these "experts" haven't done any research to back up what they are saying , so instead of getting into any arguements I'm just keeping quiet.

How did you cope with your carbshock ?

Did it help?

I am going on a Disney Cruise in December and am soo excited. I doubt I'll be good there, I know myself too well.
