Good Evening, Welcome to Mousterpeace Theater.

Alistair Cooke couldn't be hear this evening, I am Evil Emperor Zurg and I will be sitting in the chair, by the fire, in my robe (and cape!), smoking my pipe (No! I am not saying what is in it!), talking in a very urbane way so as to be your host.

Tonight we begin a very ambitious web board dramatization: to distill the many episodes of the modern Delswife's Trip Reports.

This epic tale of commandos, in-laws and Xanax is a modern day classic tale of love, comedy, long haired scruffy people, and the eternal struggle with what is in the camera bag.

Rather than attempt to bump all seven thousand post into order, as we have in the past tried to do, we present here a table of contents. Also for those of you in the Americas, who are used to such things, a “score card” had been provided listing the significant characters.

We invite scholars and other distinguished writers to offer their analysis of this post modern classic study of mental health as replies to this thread.

Get a cup of coffee, a large one, it is going to be a long but worthwhile read.

The Characters are:

Delswife, you know her that because she is writing the trip reports. God help her she must have carpel tunnel in her hands from all this typing.

Delswife's DH, She needed someone to carry stuff. This quiet man represents the silent stoic yet suffering man in our modern post feminist society trying to come to grips with the camera bag.

Delswife and Scuba Steve (and this is BEFORE she got into his panties)

Delswife's DD (17) Commando Nikki, the brat actually had a whistle. She's up hours ahead of everyone and stands around clapping her hands yelling, "Move it people, we have a park to visit!" Seeing Nikki as a villain is a simplification of the complex yet touching interplay of youthful enthusiasm, too much caffeine and a whistle early in the morning.

Delswife's DD (14) Beetlebum, just plain happy to be there is the everyman of this cautionary tale of traveling with extended family.

Delswife's DsD (6) Em, The tree hugger. Seemingly innocent but yet shows the full potential to used WMDs.

Commando Nikki, Gooffy, Em, Beetlebum

Delswife's DS (19) Airman, Just a few days of leave, then back to the base brings duty and honor to this crazy tale of American vacation life.

DS, Beatlebum, Commando Nikki & Here's Waldo!

Delswife's DB, Expert at standing outside shops, holding bags, and WAITING. A tragic figure.

Delswife's SIL, Black belt shop-a-holic. Villain. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Delswife's DsN,(18) The "Where's Waldo?" of the group seeking out a better if invisible place.

Two other people that are never introduced to. We know they where SIL's son and DIL, and that they slept two rooms over from Delswife & Co. We called them "Pig tails" & "Scruffy".
Pigtails never really spoke, but she may have had some family problems and when scruffy did talk to us, we couldn't understand anything he was saying anyway.

Delswife - I love the reports. I was so excited to see chapter 21 posted!

Thanks to Zurg for summarizing. You must have had to replace your batteries -- err energy source after reading this. (but well worth every ounce of lithium (battery, not drug))

One question: Is Waldo DB's son? Not that it matters - just wondering where his lineage lies.

Thanks for the links. Why did I not find this before. It would saved time looking for all of delswife trip reports scrooling up and down through the posts.
Hope you will update your thread as more instalments are added.

Welcome back to Mouseterpeice Theater.

Zurg's summary skills are a direct result of right click copy & paste. The dog must have eaten my bibliography.

I see you all were good students of literature in college and so you all picked up on questions of character development.

It is in this are that our author shows her real skill. Building characterization through the development of story and theme rather than simply beating readers over the head with direct third party narrative statements.

As one study's delswife's technique one sees this carefully crafted ambiguity. It is clearly a metaphor for our own dualistic nature.
