There was some news today on mouseplanet I thought I'd share :http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=dl080729av

This is what mostly concerned me as I actually reserved a saturday and sunday during a busy period just to see Fantasmic and I was so excited with the new improvements! Dang it. So I'm there with the cheerleaders and no Fantasmic....Well, I'll keep an eye out for entertainment rates at HOJO, maybe I can rearrange dates to later if they show up...

Over the weekend, MousePlanet received some information that that Fantasmic! and Disney's Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular had been cut from the 2009 budget, and that the "refurbishments" shown on the Disneyland Web site were nothing more than window dressing on an unannounced hiatus of the two shows. Walt Disney World announced last week that it would be reducing its own version of Fantasmic to just two performances per week, and some were concerned that the Anaheim park was planning to follow suit.

According to John McClintock, a spokesperson for the Disneyland Resort, both Fantasmic and Aladdin will return for the holiday season. McClintock said that Aladdin will be closed for "equipment upgrades," and will reopen in late December. As for Fantasmic, McClintock said that the show is closed through November for refurbishment, and will return in December. He noted, however, that the show "will close for additional refurbishment from March-May 2009."

oh wow so much news and wow at all the closers. (wait DL had popcorn shrimp??? im gona faint i want shrimp lol dont take it away)

Actually, hyperion isn't scheduled to close until the 29th of September now!

A friendly note to the OP, but it is not proper (from a copyright point of view) to post an entire lengthy information piece like this. Here is what I would suggest is proper:

1. Identify and provide a link to the original content

2. Cut and paste one or more smaller pieces from the original content into your post here and place them in quotes like this:

MousePlanet Refurbishment Discussion

3. Optionally, summarize key points in your own words that are of particular interest to you.

Hope that helps. :)

With that said, thanks for the contribution.

Why would they take it down for so long? Are they putting in new elements or equipment?

Yea bad form... at least put a link to the original article.. Also this news was from yesterday (old news already)! ;)

Wow. Great information you have, 50sjayne! It's a more detailed version of my YouTube video I posted on my thread. Thanks!

Has anyone noticed that there are SO many repetitive threads regarding

Is it really ? Does anyone know FOR SURE? Because I''ll be quite upset if I don't get to see Aladdin for the last time this year :sad2:

Yeah, I wasn't sure how to do the link. I was surprised when I was able to post the whole thing, so I just left it. Next time, I'll go to the technical boards and find out how to post a link. I also kind of thought people could just go to Mouseplanet if they wanted too and check it out. I just thought it was nice to have some news, the real reason why I wanted to post it though was the Fantasmic stuff- I'm going in March and I like it so much. Oh well.

Sorry, I thought that was an old you tube video I saw awhile back. I did click on that but I thought it was an old video, so sorry if the news was repetitive.

My UN-Official opinion. It costs them a small fortune to do Fantasmic. I'm wondering if with lower attendance due to the economy, this is a money saving cut. notice it's UP for the busy holiday season down all spring then back UP again for next Summer.

I personally do not have a problem with the entire story being posted, for as long as proper credit is sited, where is the problem? I mean, really now! if that is the worst the poster can do, then thank god, I will tell you what is really bad form, is when people judge you, unfairly when they don't even know you, when they dictate or attempt to anyway, how you should live your life, or an aspect there of, when all that you were attempting was to be understood, instead of being called stupid names. I just thought that I would add that, because I have seen this and more, at this site, and at others, and frankly, I do not like that kind of posting, I try really hard, to be positive in a not so positive world! so be my guest to one and all, and as the expression goes, FLAME AWAY! for one can always leave a site, just as easily as they registered.

Apparently you don't know a thing about online etiquette. Lets take a look at the original page from which this original thread started: http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=dl080729av If you look closely you will notice that there are around 20 advertisements from which the owners of mouseplanet.com generate revenue to keep their site up and running. The author of this article probably spent hours compiling information and posting it to his website. Do you think he was doing so with the intent that someone would come to his website and copy all of his hard work on to some message board on a completely unrelated website? Probably Not!!!

It is not a matter of "judging" but a matter of respecting intellectual property and content created by others. To be more specific we are talking about copyright law here - not "personal opinions" or "bad form". I was trying to gently educate the OP on this as it appeared she was not aware.

I did not see anyone in this thread call the OP or anyone else a "stupid name" (except in the response to your post where you invited a flame). In fact I rarely see it on this forum which is one of the reasons I like coming here.

In summary your response here seemed out of proportion to what had been posted so far and turned a positive thread into a negative one - something you said you try really hard not to do.

Take it easy. This issue was not about online etiquette per se but the more complicated issue of handling intellectual property and copyright law. It is not surprising that many casual Internet users are not fully informed about this. You are correct in your response here but despite Giselle's flame invitation I think you could have stated this in a non-personal way - and been more effective as a result.

To the OP 50sjayne, I reiterate a "thank you" for the contribution and hope any negative comments here do not deter you or others from contributing in the future. Just be more careful in how you handle other's content. :)

I really hope that Aladdin is still showing when I go (Sept 23-30) because when I was there in June 2008, it was on my list of things to see however by the time I was going to go see it, I was so exhausted that I opted out of going. If I don't see it this time around chances are I won't get to see it.:sad2:

Well I edited my original post- took me a few times on the testing board to make it work--but it the link seems to be working now. No, something seemed wrong about posting the whole thing, but I couldn't put my finger on it, I was actually more irritated that I couldn't post what else I wanted to say because it was so long, I put it in another post and of course it got promptly buried, which was what people's opinions were at this point who have been attentive to a pattern on discount off season ticket prices.

So any of you think that they will throw us non ap'ers some kind of a bone this year? We were going to go with the 5 days for the price of 3 park hoppers last year when my husband got laid off-- cancelling those plans. Seems last time we went they had some pretty good buys on tickets and I think all the work they were doing on DCA had something to do with that. With attendance down this summer I hope they will consider some bargain prices for the parks. I keep thinking of Terri Garr in Mr. Mom when she came up with the novel idea of lowering prices on schooner tuna--.50 cents a can :goodvibes .

But thanks for the concern by the one poster who didn't mind, I appreciated it. It's not that I'm new to message boards, it's just that I am somewhat recently weaned off aol which used to have very easy message boards- something like a link you just dragged into your post.

If you look at the schedule on DL site they aren't taking it down until then. It changed last week from earlier in September to the 29th. We thought we were going to miss it, and are super excited we'll get to see it now!

Hydro--an etiquette question. Would it have been appropriate to post the information but not the article? I've seen other posters say things like "I read on another site that _____________________________." Is that ok?

Totally appropriate. If you say it in your own words you can say anything you want. The problem comes when you cut and paste (or reproduce in some matter) someone else's words verbatim and at length. Not a quote of a few sentences, but entire pages of content.

Even when I say that I saw some article somewhere, and still provide a link so people can read it at length if they want. One does not have to provide a link, but I do for the above reason. :)

Thank You for the information 50s Jayne.. it was clear that You were sharing information..and as one who has a trip booked in nov. and mar. I'm grateful for Your post.:cheer2:

I know You only had the best intentions in creating this post.:goodvibes
