Mousekeeping

Nope. Regular housekeeping isn't even back. I think typically new towels and trash removed after 4 days.

I was at Alani recently and they did trash and towels every day and called it a welfare check ?

So I looked up Disney World housekeeping jobs and if they are still looking. They are still hiring for that position. Starting $17/hour, it lists all of the hard work/heavy lifting, etc. Full time needs to have open availability, including any shift, and days, weekends, and holidays and they go on to say that you can end up working until 3-4-5 in the morning and that scheduling shifts is determined by seniority. You will be responsible for 14-18 rooms per day. They prefer you to have at least 1 year of experience and be bilingual.
Well, that sounds like a pretty crappy job to me for only $17 hour with no consistent schedule. I can't imagine why they can't get the help that they need.

They don't empty the trash for multiple days?

I just had a night in one of the resorts; the trash can was miniscule and didn't even have a bag for easy removal. If I stayed longer it would've just sat there?

I'm flabbergasted.

*Closes tab where I was looking for a longer stay* 😒

So I have stayed at several different resorts since reopening and they all have come in and taken the trash almost every day. I have a few times where it went every other day, but for the most part, they have taken out my trash. And every 4 days, they do change out the towels. At least that has been my experience. I even decline housekeeping.

I stayed at AKL in December, they tried to talk me out of any housekeeping for my 9 night stay, I told them no way, they told me it would then be light housekeeping every 3 nights. They came ONCE in 9 nights, and when I called to complain I was told to just find a housekeeping cart in the hallway and take whatever I needed.

COMPLETELY unacceptable, especially for a Deluxe resort and the prices that go along with it. If they still can't find help, they need to increase their wage offering in today's tight job market.

They didn't in December, and I was told that when I checked into AKL. They were nice enough to tell me that they would bring me sheets so I could change the bed myself. ***?

This is so strange because in all of my trips since reopening, and I stay for over a week each time, they have come and done a full clean after a week. I wonder if it depends on the individual housekeeper. Anyone staying over a week, should have a full cleaning, IMO. I bring my own bed sheets and so they don't touch the bed, but when my daughter is with me and on the second bed(or sleeper couch) they have changed that bedding. And the funny thing is that I always decline housekeeping and am not messy at all. I thought that if you don't decline housekeeping, that they come in every 4 days and do a refresh. Edit to say that my stays have been the Yacht Club a couple of times, the Boardwalk, SSR 3 times, and POR.

I have never been a 'OmG ThE MaGiC Is GoNe" person, but taking away little things like this really turns me off to Disney.

A WDW vacation is not going to be cheap, relaxing, or simple; that's a given, and we expect that. But when staying in an expensive hotel on vacation one expects to have the bed made, trash removed, and towels replaced. Disney is a multi-billion dollar operation; it's a tough hiring market, but that means it's time for Disney to open their pocketbooks, raise their hourly wages, hire more Mousekeeping staff and return to the guest experience that kept families coming back year after year.

The rest of us had to make uncomfortable adjustments and financial tweaks due to COVID, it's time for Disney to do the same.

My reservation email said that the resort was back open and operating at full speed and capacity. I'd assume too then that they'd be functioning fully as well.

I really don’t understand how Disney is still getting away with no housekeeping. Maybe they need to pay better. I stayed in 3 hotels in 3 different states last year and all had daily housekeeping and cost less than my room will cost at AKL. Im hoping things will change by our trip in August.

In late January I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside for 5 nights, and they never emptied the trash. I had chosen “no housekeeping”.
