So this is my first on site stay and I am so excited about towel animals :D

So i just wanted to know how much do you have to tip and is it daily Im really excited about these I have been looking at them for years on this site

:D

General advice is to tip $1 per person per day, which you should leave out every day as you might not have the same person doing your room for your stay.

Oh right so is it more genorus you are better towel animal :D

No. Year before last, we tipped every day and got just one animal the entire time we were there (2-weeks). Last year, we didn't tip at all, and got four or five animals. I think it just depends on how many old disused towels they have hanging around, and how busy their schedule if for the day. Like on a Saturday (key day for checking in and out), you are unlikely to get any, but perhaps a Tuesday, which isn't a busy check-in/out day you might stand more of a chance.

Oh Right thanks I really hope we do get some I am really looking forward to it

We've always tipped mousekeeping and from all the trips we have made I think that we've had maybe 3 towel animals, so i wouldn't bank on getting them. Hope that you are one of the lucky one! :goodvibes

We got 2 or 3 last time out of 14 nights (one was there when we checked in) and this was tipping $3 a day for a couple at POFQ.. I think it's random TBH as i've heard of people getting loads when they didn't tip and others getting none when they tipped generously.

I think ur gunna get a towel animal at least once but dont expect it everyday :)

Okay... Now I feel really bad, we didn't do any tipping for our Mousekeepers whilst we were there!!!

We did leave them all our loose dollars etc when we left which I think was about $18???

>Pete.

We leave $3 a day for the 3 of us and we also make mickey mouse envelopes for the money before we go. We then make a mickey mouse head and then write keeping next to it and leave one out each day.

The mousekeepers usually arrange my DDs fluffy toys around, either watching tv or have put the do not disturb on the door with the toys in one of the beds:lmao:

We have never had any towel animals and have stayed in 3 disney hotels - but are not bothered. We have stayed at GF and AKL.

We tipped $4 per day for the 4 of us and our sons soft toys were arranged in the beds watching TV when we returned. We had about 6 small towel animals and 3 or 4 huge ones that we had to leave behind.

We're looking forward to staying onsite for the first time and hopefully getting towel animals. :thumbsup2
Where do you leave your tip so the mousekeeping know its for them?

You don't have to tip at all - I don't think that Disney consider it a tipped position. That said, it seems that most families tip $1 per person per day (as we do). We leave it in a folded piece of paper and mark it "housekeeping" when we left loose money it wasn't taken.

Don't feel bad about it. Housekeeping is not a tipped position, they do get a wage, not well paid but a lot better than a none tipped position, its your choice if you want to leave extra. Personally I don't but others do. Like you I have just left my loose change in the past.

If you want towel animals do a Disney cruise done 4 so far, totalling 22 nights, had a towel animal every night. On there Stateroom Host/Hostess is a tipped position, they suggest $4pp pd but on the cruises you get looked after a lot better than in a Disney hotel.

TBH as i've heard of people getting loads when they didn't tip and others getting none when they tipped generously.

OH I think that is a shame that people dont tip Im a hairdresser and if it wasnt for tips there is no way we could afford WDW this year

I have made some envelopes so I hope we get a few :wizard:

I agree that towel animals are a random event, and depends on your mousekeeper. From our experience, I don't think the tip can influence if you get a towel animal or not.
Over our past 5 trips, staying at the All Star resorts, we have always tipped 4 dollars a day in a mousekeeping envelope. Just DS & I on our trips.
1st Year - nothing
2nd year - DS's toys were occasionally arranged watching TV, reading a book, peeping through the window....
3rd year - 2/3 towel animals
4th year - nothing

Last year !!!!! Towel animals almost every day. We had elephants, monkeys hanging from the clothes rail, turtles, rabbits, swans, Mickey head, basket of flowers - it was amazing !!!:worship:

During our second week, the towel animals stopped for 2 days, so we assumed the mousekeeper had changed. On the 3rd day, a British bulldog soft toy appeared amongst DS's other toys pixiedust: and the towel animals appeared daily to the end of our trip.

We never met the mousekeeper - but she certainly added a huge amount of magic to our holiday.

We didn't get any towel animals during our two week stay last April either, but I was in no way disappointed with Mousekeeping. They did their job and our room was left lovely and clean each day, with a tidy bed, clean facilitates and fresh towels, that's all I ask of them! :goodvibes We tipped a couple of dollars each day, using envelopes and it was taken each time.

So I'd say, go not expecting towel animals - as you may be lucky and get one or two, or have none at all!

never heard of the do not disturb one before very funny:rotfl2:

Disney do not consider housekeeping to be a tipped position, of you want to then Ok Sometimes we have sometimes not, I wonder do people tip houskeeping in this country? Even in the US it is inconsistant with some areas doing it an other not.

The Official Disney line is that Mousekeeping are not allowed to accept tips but he/she always took our envelope BUT not one towel animal in 3 weeks! We even went to the trouble of printing our own envelopes (see www.mousesavers.com) but still no towel animals or pyjama animals in fact no animals of any sort!
