Hi, I'm new to DVC. We have our first trip scheduled this fall. We may pay for full housekeeping on one or two extra nights. In addition to the typical cleaning (bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.), will housekeeping also clean dirty dishes? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

From the member website:
Trash & Towel Service
For stays of seven or less nights, Trash & Towel Service is provided on day four, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, Vacation Points or a combination of both.

With Trash & Towel service, Housekeeping will:
  • Empty trash and replace liners in trash bins.
  • Provide fresh bathroom linens.
  • Replace shampoo, facial soap and bath soap.
  • Replenish facial tissues, paper towels and toilet paper.
  • Replenish coffee, sugar, cream and sweeteners.
  • Replenish dishwashing liquid, dishwashing detergent, sponges and laundry detergent as needed in one-, two- and three-bedroom Vacation Homes.
Full Cleaning Service
For stays of eight or more nights, Full-Cleaning Service is provided on day four and Trash & Towel Service is provided on day eight. After that, the cycle begins again on day 12, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, Vacation Points or a combination of both. With Full-Cleaning service, Housekeeping will provide everything included with the Trash & Towel Service, plus:
  • Change the bed linens.
  • Vacuum and dust the Vacation Home.
  • Clean the bathroom(s).
  • Clean the kitchen/kitchenette and wash the dishes.

Based upon our most recent stay, I STRONGLY suggest hand-washing any dishes you want to use before using them. Every glass we pulled from the cabinet had stuff stuck in them as did the bowls and silverware. Some of it would have been easy to miss as it was small, but some looked like small bits of Fruity Pebbles, which was CLEARLY visible.

I assume you know that there's a dishwasher if it's a 1 bedroom or larger villa.

Mousekeeping will seem to put any rinsed dishes I've left in the sink into the dishwasher during a full cleaning day. I'm not so sure they are scrubbing them, though...

During our Christmas stay at SSR, they put our dirty dishes in the dishwasher and ran it even for just the trash and towel service.

I've never thought about running everything through the dishwasher before using it - our dishes have always seemed quite clean, but now you've got me thinking....

We always run any dishes that we plan to use through the dishwasher as soon as we check in. We also run the dishwasher on the day that we check out to guarentee that the next Guest starts out with clean dishes. It also shortens the room turn around time for the next Guest. If Mousekeeping does the dishes in the dishwasher, they have to come back and put away the dishes before they release the room.

We always run whatever we will be using through the diswasher before using it. I just like to know that I cleaned it. As we use items they go back in the dishwasher. Run it when we leave in the morning and we are all set for the next day.
