I have always tipped at the end of our trip for mousekeeping. After reading some posts it souns like more of you tip daily- Is this what most do? Also how much generally do you tip daily in a deluxe resort? TIA I want to take care of them in a manner that shows our appreciation.

I tip daily, because you don,t always have the same mousekeeper. So if you tip at the end, you may have had different mousekeepers, and only one is benefiting, or may have not even cleaned your room until the day you leave. I tip $1 per day per person in the room.

I would tip daily also $1 or $2

Just like I do with every service that 'requires' a tip, I tip when said service is completed (at the end of my stay) and based upon the quality of the service involved.

Tipping daily makes me feel as if I am bribing them to do a decent job cleaning the room.

I prefer to wait until the end of my stay and then tip in accordance to how I feel things were done. Normally, $1 or $2 a day, more if the service was exceptional. Since I usually travel alone, there's not a huge mess to be tended to daily.

I tip daily because of the change in staffing that occurs at any particular time. It is usually just my 10 year old DD and I and we leave $3 per day whether we're at a moderate or a deluxe.

But then "Suzy" gets all the money at the end that "Mary" and June" should have gotten the first and second day. How do you justify giving one person the tips for two or more mousekeepers jobs? I'm not wanting to start a debate. I have just seen this answer given and I just dont think it is really fair.

Look at it like this...

You and "Joe Schmo" work on a project together. You do the initial working on it and Joe finishes it off with other touches. When it is tunred in should Joe get the credit for the whole thing? No. You worked on it too.

This may be a stupid question, but...where do you leave the tip so that the mousekeeper knows it's for them?

And, do you leave the tip in the morning, before you leave for the park?

I leave a tip daily, before we leave each morning for the parks. I put it in a "Mousekeeping" envelope that I have designed for just such a purpose, and I leave the envelope on the nightstand by the bed. Have never had any problems.

I tip daily - you don't have the same person everyday so it's really the only fair way to do it.

If you do an internet search for "mousekeeping envelopes" you will be able to find formatted envelopes (very cute) that are just for this purpose - I print one for each day and stuff and seal them prior to leaving for our trip. I keep them in our room safe and then each morning, pull one out and leave it on the bed for them.

I tend to tip well for just DH and I - we tip $5 per day. People will say it's their job anyway so why tip but let me tell you - having done this type of work years ago, it is no picnic and you make very little $$ for it. Plus, it's a small price to pay to make someone's day. ::MickeyMo

What a lovely way to look at it, DixieGirl! Bravo for your generous spirit! :flower:

I had never even thought about tipping until I found this board...thank goodness. We are planning on tipping $5 a day for the 4 of us.

My best tip is knowing they despise being referred to as 'mousekeepers'.

For what it's worth. . .

We leave a $5.00 tip daily, before we leave each morning for the parks. We put it in a "Mousekeeping" envelope that we print up before our trip. We leave it in the bathroom, in the sink area, where mousekeeping leaves soaps, shampoos, lotions, shower caps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. When she restocks that area during the day, she sees the envelope we have left for her. We also like to leave her some goodies like candy, gum, etc. They were nice and treated us very well during our last stay in WDW. :flower:

I tip daily when i remember. Usually 5 bucks for my family of four. Sometimes I forget, but not often. I am not organized enough to remember everyday, sometimes I have trouble keeping emh days and my ps's straight. I hope no one thinks that I am being callous, but that is reality. Maybe if you leave it at the end of the week, they share tips with others. If not, do we really want to tip someone who would keep the money that they didn't earn??? Just a thought.

We also tip $5 per day. Come on....you're at Disney! We have NEVER had bad service at Disney. Just being on Disney property gives that magical feeling and I guess we want the "mousekeepers" to feel like they contribute to that. I don't feel at all like we are bribing them but good service of any type is worth tipping. I think if we all put ourselves in their shoes...it would put a smile on our face to know someone appreciated the work we do. Just my opinion...not trying to get you all to tip if you choose not to.

I usually tip $5 per day and I just leave it under the little folded card that says something like "Your room is cleaned by" and then has a name written on it. One night we had a sick child in the middle of the night and we did leave a very generous tip that day. I knew someone had a nasty job. Yes, we did clean up as best we could. You should have seen our room when we returned. We had little towel mickeys on our beds and animal toothbrush holders, bows on our tub, a towel animal on our tv and everything was SPOTLESS! I didn't expect all the extra and I don't know if it was because she knew we had the sick child (left an I am sorry note with the tip) or because we left the extra money but either way it perked us all up on our return to the room.
