Where is the best place to leave an envelope with a mousekeeping tip in it in the room? Should we pay the entire stay in one envelope or a different envelope for each day?:wizard:

You should leave an envelope daily. The same person might not be cleaning the room every day. As the where - it depends on where you stay. Usually leave it on the night stand or on any counter out in the open. As long as you label it and leave it out in the open they will find it.

I always leave them on the bed, both the am service and the turndown service....and mark the enveloped accordingly.

Never heard of such a thing, sounds wrong to me. Anyway, we leave a tip daily on the sink.

I don't know for a fact, but, I can't believe that the mousekeepers do not get to keep their tips.....why would they be so appreciative of them if they just had to turn them over to Disney??

I'm not supposed to tell you this, but disney does not allow mousekeepers to keep any tips WHATSOEVER...doing so, they could be fired. This is what our last housekeeper said when we tried tipping. Yep...just another way how disney drains our wallets....but this is just ssad people.

Hmmm...."I'm not supposed to tell you this,"? Why? Will the tooth fairy quit visiting? Someone at Disney is going to take away birthdays?

Good grief. I always leave tips when I stay in hotels. I don't take a bunch of envelopes, though. I just take enough square post-its. I stick half to the nightstand, and the other to the bill. I write housekeeping and thanks on it. Works fine, keeps the tip in place, and it's a great space saver for me.

I really find that hard to believe. I'm sure someone can easily solve this debate -- just ask a Mousekeeper!

Yeah, I don't believe that for a minute.

We tip $5 per day in individual envelopes. We arrange our stuffed animals (Stitch, Mickey, whoever the kids bring) on one of the beds, and put the envelope in their arms. Most days when we return, Mousekeeping will re-arange the animals (once, we returned to find that Stitch had climbed the mirror in our bathroom!).

We have always received towel dolls as a "thank you," and we've actually had a Mousekeeper say "thank you" to us on the day we checked out.

So, I really doubt that the Mousekeepers don't receive the tips themselves. Perhaps they are required to share the tips with the other Mousekeepers (like some restaurants do for all of their servers). But, I can't believe that Disney would take the "gratuity for service" away from the Mousekeepers.

We leave our tip on the bathroom vanity each morning before heading out to the parks. I never did a special envelope and mousekeeping figured out who the money was for.;)

welll there has to be at least one troll to live under all those disney bridges *wink*

Is there a reccommended amount per day?

We have generally left at the end of stay in other resorts (not at WDW) but if there is a different person per day then daily I guess makes sense.

So how much?

Thanks

I usually tip between $1 per person per night or $5 per room per night. I think that is about standard. It is true that SOME cast members cannot accept tips, such as fron desk people in the resorts, but mousekeeping and bell services certainly keeps their tips!!

I generally put cash in envelopes and have everything ready before we leave so that I don't have to worry about having the cash when we get there. I stick all the envelopes marked "Mousekeeping" in the room safe, then pull one out every day before leaving for the parks. This has always worked out great for us, and saves us just a little time and aggrevation when we are there.

I leave the mousekeeping tip (a different envelope for each day) in the bathroom mirror. Just to make it stand out my DD and DN write little thank you messages on them in crayon. :thumbsup2

That's exactly what we did, too!!!

Great minds think alike...;)
