Hi friends!

We'll be heading down to WDW this weekend and staying at Saratoga Springs. We rented points this time. We were thinking of requesting an extra trash and towel service or full cleaning service (I understand that there are associated charges with this). I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions or comments on when you request and pay extra to have this done. We've never rented points before or stay at a DVC resort before, so any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

You can arrange for it at the front desk when you check in.

You can make the extra housecleaning or trash and towel service request for any one or more days you are there and can theorectically do so before arrival by the member's contacting Member Services and putting in the request. However, doing that is often pointless because housekeeping never seems to claim having known the request was made. The best way yo do it is to contact housekeeping (not just the front desk) for the resort after you get there and put in the request. When you do so they will give you a canned speech about houseleeping not being available to DVC members or guests and that there is an extra fee, and they are likely to act initially like you must have made a mistake by calling. After you tell them you really want the extra service and after they express more shock, you can put in the day you want. Moreover, if you want to be sure it gets done, you should contact housekeeping again the morning when such service is to occur to remind them because they have been notorious in the past for "forgetting" to do the service or claiming the request was never noted when made. In other words, you should assume that housekeeping is the most incompetent organization at WDW and act accordingly. The extra fee is added to your room charges. How long are you staying and in what villa size?

It really isn't necessary to have more cleaning. If you find you really need cleaning then I would call early on the morning to housekeeping and request the extra clean.
Also you can simply take out your own trash for free. There are trash rooms in each building on multiple floors and if you are in a 1 bedroom or larger just toss the dirty towels in with your other laundry.

We're staying in a 1 bedroom for a long weekend with 4 adults. I was thinking with that many adults it might be good to get extra towels and such. Do you all think it would be better to just pay for the extra towels instead of getting trash and towel service? I was a bit worried about requesting extra housekeeping service since I have heard of them "forgetting".

Just throw a few every day into the washer/dryer in the room. Just remember to bring some detergent with you - the "pod" types can easily travel in luggage

I'd ask for the extras you need but if it's more than towels you might want to compare to paying for a trash and tidy as it sounds like you won't get one (3 nights). They may or may not charge you. IF you're staying 4 nights just ask they move your towel day to the first full day and thrown the dirty towels in the laundry before they come so you'll have both the rest of the time. You may want to take laundry detergent as they'll only provide one small box.
