Mousekeeping--Let's encourage WDW to bring it back!

We just got home from a 10 day trip and we usually like Mousekeeping every day, pre covid they gave us amazing towel animals every day, we always had a collection on our unused bed. But we opted in this trip and the every other day cleaning worked out fine. We tipped every other day as well, and were blessed with a ton of clean towels, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, body wash and body lotion. Even vanity kits etc. And she changed our sheets mid stay. So I hope every day comes back eventually but every other day is just fine too.

Don't get me started......all other hotel chains are doing cleaning daily, there is no reason for Disney to not clean rooms - we are paying way too much for these rooms - cleaning is only a cost saving plan. And we allow it and keep going, I'm one of the. In addition, no wand/sword at Cinderellas Castle (they can hand you food on a plate but not a free wand to the kids? laughable) Again - cutting corners.
We just got home and I'm a bit frustrated - there is no reason they shouldn't be cleaning rooms, if they can clean tables at restaurants, clean bathrooms at parks, drive buses full of people. It makes no sense.

No they aren't. I just stayed at a Springhill Suites for three nights and got no housekeeping at all. They said at check in they aren't providing housekeeping during short stays.

This was a big downer of our trip, to be honest. Lack of housekeeping impacted our trip because we were constantly having to call or chat for additional items/service. The trash containers are tiny and they fill up quickly, especially with take out food. I asked for every other day trash removal/towel refresh, but we were missed more than once which necessitated calls. When they did come, we wouldn’t get towels replaced or coffee refilled, which required another call. It was an annoyance to have on vacation. For the resort prices, I expect better! We also checked into a very dusty room, which certainly made me doubt the “enhanced cleaning” protocols. This is something I will be emailing Disney about, because it was a big disappointment.

Interesting, we've stayed at Hilton and Marriot chains and all cleaned the rooms daily. But at disney, we didn't get housekeeping any of the 7 days there. They can clean off dining tables at restaurants, clean buses you ride on, allow you to shop at their stores, but they can't clean a hotel room, especially with what we are paying. Seemed like a cop out to me. Their decisions on what they can't do, due to covid, and what they can do (sell items) just doesn't make any sense. I still think it's hilarious that Cinderella's Royal table couldn't give free wands and swords, due to Covid, but they can hand you a meal and you can buy a wand.

Where did you stay? AKL did not do this!

Yes, I always bring extra plastic bags for the trash because the cans they give you are really small and hold maybe 1 empty coffee cup :drinking: I do find that housekeeping usually takes a bit of time to deliver things and I only call when I have time to wait around. Otherwise, when we are getting ready in the morning and I see the cart, I will just ask the person right there for more of whatever. If I cannot find them, I take what I need for the room. Jail me.

My biggest thing is clean sheets at least once if I stay more than 4 days, other than that we will wash the towels in the morning and have clean ones when we return from the parks. Since we are always in a 1 or 2 bdr villa and have the washer and dryer in the room.

We had extra bags with us (it was a great tip that I saw here), but the trash was piling up since they kept missing us. Just didn’t feel “vacation-y” with trash in the room, especially coming back to it when it should’ve been removed.

At that point I would have left it in the hallway.

Why is it that some posters think it's "funny" with the laughing emoji when someone is relating their unsatisfactory experiences with housekeeping?
It seems that when a poster states how unhappy they are with having trash and wet towels, etc around, and the difficulty getting help, they get the laugh emoji.
Just seems rude to me, that's all.
If you don't agree, then don't read it, IMO. And feel free to use the rude laugh emoji on this post, real classy:)

Agreed, but if you take a look, you will notice that it is often the same few posters. Once you realize who, you can just ignore them.

Soooo, today I got a nice email back from guest services in response to the one I sent, saying they still were limiting housekeeping as a safety measure but were constantly reevaluating their measures to provide the best service possible for their guests. Mr. Tyrell assured me I should have my trash removed, fresh towels and amenities replenished, and all bathroom and counter surfaces cleaned every other day as part of their modified housekeeping, and if they were not to speak with the front desk by calling from the room or visiting it in person. He also said he shared my concerns with the appropriate leadership team. As usual, I plan on tipping in an envelope every day with a note of what I would like done. I have always left $8 a day for three people, but may increase it as the staff is not to blame, and have been off work I am sure. But, I will call if it is not done, or we need it between visits. We check in on Saturday, so I assume service should begin on Monday, and continue Wednesday. We check out Friday. If that's all they do, I still don't see why they can't do it every day.

Thanks for posting the response you received. I haven't heard back yet, but will post if/when I do.

I also love coming back to a clean room with CLEAN FLOORS. Blech. After about the second day, our floors are nasty, and although I can touch up surfaces with wipes, I have no mop or vacuum and it gets disgusting by the end of the week.

Also agree - I'm on vacation, and don't particularly enjoy doing the garbage, towel, coffee restock calls every day; especially at the price we all pay.

And I get the labor shortage issues, but still think the return of Mousekeeping is WAY overdue.
Take your shoes off at the door and you won't have nasty floors. Like my grandma used to say, you weren't raised in a barn. Lol
