Our stay at Disney was a disaster. First of all, we had to wait outside in a 90 minute que just to get to the lobby. Once inside, we could not believe our eyes. Yes, we knew Disney standards had gone downhill, but never did we expect the lobby to look this unkempt. (See photo). I understand the theme of the resort was a 1930s era hotel, but my God, I had hoped that was not the last time it had been cleaned. The dust and cobwebs everywhere.

We were ready to turn around and head to Universal Studios, but remembered that the deposit was non-refundable. So despite the children's crying and pleading to leave, we decided to at least look at the room. Once at the front desk, things only got worse. The receptionist was rude and frankly, a bit scary. She informed us that not only were the main elevators down, but the restaurant was closed too. The bellman took our bags and led us back to a service elevator.

I should never have gotten on that elevator considering there was no current inspection certificate. We were literally scared half to death. In fact, my family can't talk about the incidents that followed to this day. The doctors don't think they will ever be able to go on an elevator again and I've noticed they even avoid the escalator now. It was truly a terrifying ride. Once the doors finally opened, we bolted out of there so fast we left our luggage behind. You can believe that I sent a sternly worded email to the Disney resort manager.

People have told us we must have visited on a bad day and to give Disney Resorts another try. Maybe we will give it another try. I see there is a place called Mystic Manor in Hong Kong that we might like.

Lame, I know, but I wanted to add a bit of humor to combat the negative reviews Mousekeeping has been getting. Lately, I actually think things are getting better. I'll have to write a real review soon.

Love it!

Amazing! Although I was initially confused by the waited 90 minutes to get in the hotel part.

Worse - they're still doing the room checks there and in the elevator which is so old and rickety that rather than pay for the maintenance or upgrading them they just put seatbelts there!

Thanks for this. I wish everyone had this sense of humor about the negativity that gets spread around.
