So, for review, you usually leave $2-$3 per day, right?
how about for turndown service?
I got some pastel envelopes, and wrote mousekeeping
on them with glitter glue pens in complementary colors
for the envelopes, and bought disney princess stickers,
putting one on each...they turned out so cute!! I might
mention though, it is just middleaged DH :smooth: and
also middleage, but I'm not going down without a fight me!
DH :smooth: thinks I've finally lost what is left of my
mind!......just wait til he sees the Disney beach towels I
bought for us...ariel for me, dash for him...he won't see
them until our 1st trek out to SAB...... :love2:

I tip mousekeeping $1 per person per day with a $2 minimum if I'm travelling alone.

I've only had turndown service on one trip, and I didn't tip them for it. It wasn't something I asked for, or really cared about getting, so it never occurred to me to tip for it.

We tip $5 a day for the three of us. Another $2 for turn down service. I love to make up the envelopes too! When else do us middle agers get to create such cute things!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Sounds like something I would do! (You people are giving me ideas!)

I make up my own envelopes too. I print off pictures of the characters and write little thank you notes on the outside like, "Thank you for making our visit so magical!" I tip $4 a day ($1 for each of us) along with $2 for turn-down service ($1 for each bed). My kids love putting out the envelopes. I forget once in awhile and the kids love to find the mousekeeper and give it to her directly. I am hoping that this is teaching them to appreciate the special job that these ladies do!

On our last trip our mousekeeper was a middle aged man who did NOT do a very special job. In fact, he didn't even do what was expected. The only thing that was accomplished in our room everyday was that he made the bed. Well, sort of - since the spread was usually crooked and hanging on the floor by more than half a foot on one side. We didn't complain, hey it's vacation and we were in WDW. We normally leave $1 pp per day, however, we left NO tip on that trip.

Is turndown service available at all Dis resorts, or just the deluxe?

Bugsy, that sounds appropriate for the 2 of you. For turn down service, I go with the $1 per bed or minimum $2. I'm raising my hand and joining the club of middle aged DIS'ers who decorate mousekeeping envelopes. Sometimes I let my 8 year old do it, but when it's just DH and myself, it's a guilty pleasure that I enjoy doing.

D4est, yes turn down service is only available at the Disney deluxe resorts.

Are we wrong?

We were "taught" to leave the envelope the last day, prior to check out? From the sounds of things, we should be leaving the tip on a daily basis?

Thanks for any advice....

I think it is because you may have different mousekeepers
during your stay (days off, shift changes, etc) this way
your actual mousekeeper of a specific day gets their tip
(also, quite frankly, I am hoping to use this a an ever
so subtle way to bribe them into making us towel animals
:teeth:

You should leave the tip daily. You might not get the same maid through your stay. I know that when I stay I get two different maids. Depending on their days off if I waited to the end to tip I might be giving the new maid all the tips from the days prior. That certainly isn't fair to the maid that cleaned your room all week. Though it certainly makes the maid that only cleaned your room once VERY happy! LOL!

Is turndown service automatically done if you stay concierge?

I guess I will have to add to my Mousekeeping budget!

I never like any of the print out mousekeeping envelopes so I made my own, making sure I put "for the maid" in English AND Spanish :)

It's just my hubby and I in a room. We are very neat and I pick up the room a little before we leave, and wipe up the water around the sink area, also making a pile of the dirty towels. I left $3 per day. 2 days I came back from the parks to find my bed had been turned down, not a common service at the CSR, from what I understand :)

When staying at Poly GVC I left $5 in the morning and $5 for turndown. I left $5 for turndown because they also tidied up, left more toiletries and towels (we would return to our room at about noon for a couple hours rest and pool time). We even had different mousekeepers on the same day.
