I don't think it has any affect on the crowds...I think they get a few hundred people to attend.

We were at WDW Dec 1-5 this year, which was during MouseFest, and I only saw 2 people with Mousefest buttons on... crowds were great, the worst time was December 3, Saturday night, in the MK, which I new was going to be crowded anyway.
