I cant stand mice. I have a horrible, horrible fear of them. Can't stand them. Would rather have a dozen snakes, spiders or frogs then one little mouse. I dont know why, they are just my "thing".

So, I have two indoor/ outdoor cats. Both are excelent hunters- birds and mice. Just one little problem- they don't seem to care that there is a #@(@)(*@!#@ mouse behind my refidgerator! Why, oh why did it have to move into my kitchen? And why do these stupid cats not care? :sad2:

I thought mice stayed away from houses where cats lived?

I'm on the verge of tears. I need to go clean up the droppings from on top of the fridge, but I dont even want to set foot in the kitchen. Dh ran to the store to get something to take care of it. Not sure what he'll get. There isnt a good solution- decon we have to worry about the cats eating the mouse. A trap would have to go behind the big side by side fridge and would be hard to get back out or reset. Why oh why can't these cats just do their job!? :furious:

I feel the same way about centipedes. Just typing that word makes me cringe. Good luck on getting rid of the mice and maybe stop feeding the cats for a bit (JUST KIDDING)!

Maybe if I stop feeding the cats the mouse would move out. He's probably living on cat food since its in a bowl on the kitchen floor!

(I know that is not what you meant, but I wouldnt doubt that it really is eating their food!)

That could be an issue...as kids we had a mouse in our basement and we figured out he was eating the dog food we stored down there. My dad figured it out when he went to pick the bag up and a ton of dog food spilled all over the floor from where the mouse had chewed the bottom of the bag.

What stuff did your DH get to kill it. My dad swears by the stuff that makes them bleed out. I can't remember what it is called. The only problem with that is then you have to find the corpse because otherwise it will stink up your house...traps are nice because they catch them and give you a sanitary way to dispose of the corpse.

Good luck!

OMG!! I got the same problem. I hate mice, rats etc, I have a phopia or something! We also have about 6 cats 2 are in and out the rest just outdoor. And a couple of weeks ago I was getting coffe and I moved a bag from the behind the fridge and this nasty animal jumped and went under the stove! I scream and freaked out.

I'd never seen one inside the house in more than 5 years! I called DH and he couldn't believe it, then I locked 2 cats in the kitchen and they didn't care, they dumped the trash instead :furious: yeah! Good job, more food for the nasty rat to eat.

I put some of those glue traps and I refused to go into my kitchen for days, didn't cook at all. Then few days later I saw one of the outdoor cats with a mouse, I freaked out again, but I was so happy thinking that she had caught the darn thing, wrong!! That same night I was watching TV and I went into the kitchen thinking that it was "Mouse safe" and then :) another black nasty one went ACROSS the floor!! :scared1: :scared1: I scream so loud, ( it was like 2:00AM Oops  ) ran into the bedroom, the dogs went crazy, DH jumped out of bed, the kids woke up, and I was on the bed screaming that it was a huge rat in the kitchen! :sad2:

DH got mad at me :) of course LOL! :rotfl:

Well, we put a little box of mice bait behind the fridge and it was a small hole there too, DH fixed it already and I haven't seen the nasty animal in days.

@*#&@*$^$ mouse! ???????

Oh thank god! I thought you were talking about Mickey!!! :rotfl:

Well you made me look alright! If you want to borrow my cat, let me know. He has a very sick obsession with not only catching any mouse foolish enough to wander in this house, but as quickly and painfully as possible!!!!

It's gross, but effective!

We had that problem last year. I hate seeing those nasty things. I had to buy mouse poison and plugged up any holes I found and we found 3 dead ones in a few days. Thankfully I haven't seen any others. The only mice I like are Mickey and Minnie! :goodvibes

I HATE mice; they are so gross!

Try putting peppermint oil in all the corners of a room (and anywhere else you think a mouse may go). They don't like the smell. You do have to put more down every so often.

I also use the glue traps. I worry that if I use the poison either my dogs will get sick or the mouse will die and I won't be able to find it.

We've had them in our house 2 times so far this year. The first round we caught with traps. The 2nd round I bought some sort of pebble mouse poisoning. But I know at least 1 died somewhere in the wall, it smelled for weeks, and I couldn't get it out.

My dad told me they get in from crawling up the corners of the house where the siding meets. They can get right into the attic. So I have some insulation to stuff up there but haven't done it yet!

Oh and our 1st round of mice were taking food from the dog's bowl and putting it in my sneakers. They had to climb up into the bowl, walk to my room, into my closet and into my sneaker. All this while we were downstairs watching TV.

I used one of those humane traps in my garage. It caught one field mouse in a year. But I havent seen any other mice...

Unfortunately I feel pretty bad. The mouse starved to death in the trap. I'd rather kill it outright rather than knowing I did that. Had I known, I would have turned him loose in a field far from the house but he never made a sound. I now check the trap daily.

We live in a big ol' country farm house so we get the occasional mouse visitor, and my cat just loves to play with them, terrorize them, and eventually kill them and then just leave them where they lay. :)

We had a dead one on the floor of the laundry room last month, right in front of the washer. I left it there and told myself to tell DH about it when he got home, then I forgot. He was gone the next day when I remembered so decided I'd better take care of it myself so got the broom and dustpan. When I swept the mouse onto the dustpan it was wet on the underside, ugh!
Had already started to decompose! :crazy2: So I threw it out into a field and then had the mess to clean in front of the washer, yuck! I should have just taken care of it myself the day before, instead of thinking I'd leave it for DH to deal with. That'll teach me! ;)

Thats a gggoooOOOOOOOOooooddd kitty :goodvibes

Hi, from Ontario. This last past week we have got FOUR in our basement/laundry/storage room. I got fed up, I can't stand them either, so I bought a can of the expanable foam and DH sprayed every crack and HUGE hole in the corner. Now the job, a great time to go through everything under the crawl space and get organized. The funny thing is that the night before DH did all the spraying, one of the mouse traps went missing. Now guess who will find it today while cleaning. Yes ME.

We live in a heavily-wooded area. We get LOTs (I see at least 5 a year) of mice in the house.

Our cat thinks they are toys... catch mouse, drop live mouse in Mom & Dad's bedroom at 2 a.m., watch mouse run away, catch mouse again, etc... Occasionally, the cat will bring me a dead mouse, but I catch (with a cup and my bare hands) as many mice as the cat kills.

I need to get a mousetrap.

Mice eat well at our house... I have a toddler and a Kindergartener who love to make crumbs faster than I can sweep or vacuum.

Dh brought home some decon and sticky traps. I'm hoping the sticky traps work while I'm at work today so I dont have to be there when it happens- or I dont have to deal with a dead mouse behind the fridge.

I thought I could hear something for a couple weeks now. But, there were not any droppings on the floor or counter tops. So, I thought it must be something else. We are guessing it either came in when we had the door open over night this summer or the cats brought it in and it got away from them. I think it knows the cats are there, and must not be coming out on the counters- just the top of the fridge for some candy. So, its basically stuck living in the corner.

I've heard the peppermint or bounce dryer sheets will keep them away. I think I'll put some of both behind the fridge so we dont have this problem again!

I feel sorry for the mice. I am petrafied of them, but I feel sorry for them. I am a firm believer that every animal has feelings and every animal feels pain.

Had the little buggers stayed outside I wouldnt be trying to kill them! I just dont want to live with them. They are dirty, distructive little guys.
