Disney announces new in room assistants starting at the Poly, and other resorts soon! They will magically be looking in on you 24/7 keeping tabs of everything you are doing in your kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, etc... so you can enjoy the best possible experience during your stay! :woohoo:

Slip and fall getting out of the shower? Worry no longer, because Disney cast members watching you on the in room personal assistant will send help immediately.

I'm just happy that someone will finally answer when i yell out "hey Alexa" to ask some random question. One less reason for my family to laugh at me at last ;)

Can you just unplug it if there is concern about privacy?

Will this go the way of the IHome? Remember those that replaced the clock radios (I think they were called IHome)? I felt that was a total waste of money. This thing might be a novelty for less experienced disney guests, but I don't see it being useful for most DVC members. Just a thought - will it bring real mugs to my studio if I ask? ;)
Hopefully it can be moved or unplugged.

We have a Alexa speaker in our home, and after the first 2 weeks, none of my family really use it. So yes I think there will be a limited audience moving forward. We got it as part of a package with our Ring doorbell, and since we have the Ring App on our devices, the smart speaker seems really unnecessary especially since it needs to be plugged in.

I think it depends on what other voice-enabled devices are available in the room. I have lights and some wall switches that I use Alexa to turn on/off. I can see how it may not be useful to many people if it doesn't have other integrated features.

IMO, what a waste of money! Disney is only interested in attracting the very young, not those of us who turn off our lights by hand. I'm not even sure I'd know how to use it to my advantage. And yes, we have an Alexa at home. It was a gift-DH figured out how to get it to do a few things, and while it's convenient to be able to turn the lights on and off by saying "Hey, Alexa...." I functioned fine doing it myself.

This doesnt control the lights its essentially your phone but worse.

Also likely paid for by Amazon.

Will be powered off as soon as I enter the room. I have no use for such a device.
