Last year at WDW we had a delivery to our room and it had to mouse hats. I never got it engraved should I have it engraved at DL? If so how much does it cost? I was thinking of engraving it to saw the first times I went to WDW and now to DL? Would that be too much:dance3:

Lexi,
I know they have pretty strict guidelines on what they can and cannot put on the hats as far as names go - I've heard you can't use a nickname or "mom" or "baby Joe". But there is a store right next to the hat shop on the right side of Main Street (just past the bank and Abe Lincoln show) where they will embroider anything you want for $7. You can choose one of 5 fonts styles and 6 colors. I have had my name put on a DL jacket, visor (the hat store will not engrave visor hats) and DD and DH surprised me one year with pajamas from the Grand CA Hotel with my first name above the pocket. It only takes a few hours and they do really good quality work. Just something to keep in mind if you want custom embroidery on your items.

I've never heard of the shop that does embr. on items. Learn something new every day. I can say though, they do let you have things like "mom" on ears. I have 2 pairs that say mom. I've also bought dad, granny and pappa ears.

Is embroidery all that this shop does, or do they sell something as well?

uhhh, you know they use machines to make those names right? I dont see why it would cost $7 though... quite a rip off... that probably more than the hat is worth.

First of all...
Albort, I think you are a little cynical because you work there. $7 for an item which is unique, and "you" and will have guests all over the park asking "how did you get that?" is well worth it - not a "rip off" by any means. It happens to me often, especially with my visor. Anyone can buy the visor, I have never seen anyone else with their name embroidered accross the brim. And of course a machine does it. I didn't imply it was done by hand. It is very high quality, the letters are about 1/4 inch thick, not the single stictch writing you get for free. I feel it is well worth the $$.

I have my receipt in front of me and the shop is called Disney Showcase and yes, they sell many clothing items. The embroidery booth is in the very back of the store on the left.

And it appears I am incorrect about putting names like "mom" and such on the hats. Sorry!:)

Anyway, for those who want to spend a few extra $$ to make your souvie personilized and unique, I think it is a great option and worth the $7.

I should clarify- yes, they'll do names like mom or dad (standard "names"), but they will not do nicknames such as "Turbo".

They are probably an operating participant, just like the ones we have here at WDW. They can embroider items that you purchased on Disney property, but there are guildlines that they have to follow. I purchased a pair of the golden ears at DL last year, took them home & had them embroidered with my dad's name on the back to give to him for his 60th birthday last christmas and the color blue they used almost exactly matched what was already used on the ears/hat. I like it much better than the classic stitching, which is not free anymore, at least here in WDW.
