Over the next week I am testing each of these smartphones for possible purchase. Any users out there with comments?

I am not a big phone talker; I would be using these for checking my work and home emails and looking up stuff on the internet.

I have the HTC until Monday and have been playing around with it, but cannot find a GPS app on it. Any other quirks?

Thanks.

Well, it sounds like the Droid is for you then. Google put a lot of research and time into developing this phone. The things you're wanting to do with it are what this phone was made for and from all I read, it's the best on the market for these types of applications. The phone part itself is where most of the reviewers had the problems with it. They feel Google put so much effort into all these cool features, but failed horrible at making a phone. I guess ending a call isn't even very simple according to many of the reviews I've read.

I don't believe there is a bluetooth option right now, but eventually, an app will come out that will support it.

I was going to get them for my kids for Christmas, but after reading the reviews and seeing the phones in the stores, I got really leery and decided to wait and let them pick out their own phones.

I hear the GPS (we already have stand alone units), is top notch on this phone. It will even show you an aerial view photo of your destination, then supposedly, a pic of your destination's front door upon arrival.

Thanks. I am pretty sure the Droid has a voice activated GPS (free)...one of my co-workers has one and was showing it off last week. I was captivated. I didn't want to prejudice myself against the HTC just in case it had something similar.

I don't know anything about the other phone. I added this to my above post, but since you already read it, you probably won't see it.

MY dh and I both have the DROID and LOVE it!!!

I have the droid and love it. have had no problems with it, not even with ending a call..it doesnt have a physical end button, but when you move your face away from the phone the screen pops back up and the end button is on the screen. I have no problems with that at all. The internet works great, and the gps is awesome too, shows a picture of the house or building when you make it to your arrival...nice feature. It is great for surfing the web, checking emails, looking at the news, you can even watch tv shows on it from nbc and the other sites that allow you to watch shows on it...another nice feature.

I also have the Driod, being very new to the world of smartphones I find this one very easy to learn how to use. I love this phone the GPS and all. It does have bluetooth, I can connect my bluetooth earpiece to it and connect it with other bluetooth phones, if that is what you are talking about. I am still learning how to use it to it's fullest potential, but I do know that it is well worth the money. Also DH got the Droid ERIS which does just about everything the Droid does but talk to you when navigating directions, also the ERIS only has the keyboard on the touch screen. But it too is a nice smartphone.

DS17 has a Droid and the only problem I have with it is that he won't let me play with it :lmao:. It is a VERY cool phone. I am hoping our work software will support this phone so I can get one!!
