Could you guys point me in the right direction of where I could find a few good sites for motorhome(30ft+) shopping and comparisons. I figure I need to start get educated now for if we plan on buying one in the future instead of vacation home. When I google the search it comes with a bunch of stuff to filter through and it becomes cumbersome just to get at some basic and straight information. There has to be a few reputable sited out there that you guys know about.
Thanks for the help,
Chris

40% off MSRP is pretty aggressive. If you can get that, great but you may need to dial back expectations.

www.rv.net is a good resource with pretty good forums.

Best site is iRVs, has over 75,000 members which we are since 2004. There is a section RVs for sale and ask any question about any MFG. and get first hand owner feed back.

RV.NET has a lot of good features to ask questions and get answers and RVT.com has a lot of items for sale that you can do search and compares.

I am going to join those sites!
I was looking at Tiffins, why the white interiors?
Oh boy so much to learn....
Keep the suggestions coming.

People in the past on these boards have stated that Tiffins have bad customer service. I don't own one, just stating what has been posted here. Might want to research it.

Almost everything I've read on rv.net about customer service regarding Tiffin has been positive.

So glad to hear that as there have been several Tiffins I really liked! A couple years ago, I could not find any positive remarks concerning their customer service.

Of all the manufacturer's of motorhomes, I have heard nothing but positive reviews of Tiffin. Knowing several people that have them, has prompted us to look into a Tiffin also. I love several of their floorplans also, especially the 40QTH. There is a Tiffin forum if you would like some more info on them.

We have been looking at Tiffin's for several years, but can't pull the trigger on anything until we get closer to retirement. Tiffin is a family owned business based in Red Bay, AL. Like any company they have good and bad points including several manufacturing issues specific to certain year coaches. If you are in the area factory tours are available most days of the week.

Lots of information on the Tiffin RV Network, which is independent of the company - hosted by owners to assist other owners. They usually have several rallies around the country a year and non-owners are welcome to attend. We received lots of great information and went through multiple units by attending a couple of rallies in our pop-up

Wow, my mother owns a Tiffin, Allegro Bus, I think. They have had first class customer service. My 8 yr old dd always want to stay in grandmas "rv" not our camper. Anyway, just sayin......

The final selling point pushing the Tiffin Company over the top is their son (Van Tiffin) kicked for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the mid-80's with the field goal in the final seconds of the '85 Iron Bowl being his signature moment (I was there).

Their grandson (son of the player from my time above) (Leigh Tiffin) kicked for Alabama in the national Championship game against Texas in the Rose Bowl two years back. :cheer2:

So that should go in their favor right?

Bama ED

PS - 14 and counting, aight? ;)

Sorry, but no, Bob Tiffin who started the company turned it over to his sons 8 - 10 years ago but they started to run the company into the ground. Bob stepped back in and turned it back around - then the economy tanked. They were down to building 3 - 4 motorhomes a week, but they kept the company afloat during the downturn. They have had the best selling unit for the past several years (Phaeton).

The best place to see many different RVs is RVT.com. This is RV Trader. It has thousands of RV ads. The site is fast and easy to navigate and has a great search feature. You put in your criteria such as length, price range, brand, etc. I have spent countless hours over the years looking at these ads.
Many people such as myself would never buy a new one. An RV is much like a house with many systems and assembly. It is very common to find something wrong with your new RV, all brands included. By the time the RV is a couple of years old all the factory bugs should have been fixed. Buy a like new one with low mileage about 2 to 10 years old and save a bundle of money and maybe have fewer problems than a brand new one. We bought a super clean 2002 Winnebego Brave, 35 ft, 2 slides, 25,000 miles, a Chevy 8.1 gas engine, last March for $37,000. I know, a diesel is better but I couldn't afford one. A similar RV is about $60. Also maintanence and repairs are much less expensive on a gas model. Note this: My 35 footer is the largest I would consider with a gas engine. The 343 hp chevy has plenty of power. I get 6.5 mpg. I know diesel is better but I can buy a lot of gas for the $20000 I saved.
I too have heard a lot about the Tiffon brand quality. I wish I could afford a Phaeton. The old reliable Winne has a good reputaion as well.

Sales Stats:

The 2011 sales stats are in - at least 11 months worth of them. These stats are based on the diesel pushers sold to end customers (not dealers) between January and November 2011.

Tiffin has a huge lead with 1,518 units sold.
Fleetwood (includes American Coach) is second at 547.
Winnebago had a nice increase and is now up to 523.
Monaco is at 455
Thor at 406
Newmar at 294

By Tiffin Model

The Phaeton 591 units.
Allegro Bus is second at 339
The Breeze at 280.
Allegro RED at 273.

We are Jayco fans. They are not always the cheapest but quality and the 2 year warranty are nice. :thumbsup2
