I need some motivation & love. Have not even been loggin in since I know we cant afford to go anytime soon. DH and I decided enough is enough and we're back on the saving wagon! Looking through all your posts is so helpful. Missed you guys!

You deserve a lot of credit. You recognized that money needs to be saved and taking the steps to do so. That's the responsible thing to do. Some may take the trip anyway getting further into debt.

I understand your pain. It's been five years since our last Disney trip for that very reason. We really tightened our belt and even though it's had it's ups and downs, I am so relieved that we will be debt free at the end of the year! We're heading to Universal this year for 2-3 days and next year we'll be doing our big Disney trip. Check out the Debt Dumpers thread here on the budget board. They have been very motivating to me. Just think how much better you'll feel when you know that unexpected repairs and such won't have you deciding which bill doesn't get paid or praying the power company will give you an extension and not cut off your power.

Bravo to OP!:cool1: keep saving and doing what you need to do....and 'plan' your next trip .... sometimes a good plan takes years....;)

thanks everyone, we're a little discouraged but know it will be worth it to be debt free. :thumbsup2

If you're looking for ways to save for just Disney (without having a major impact on your other savings) check these threads for ideas and encouragement:
One Year to Save 2013-2014 Edition
One Year to Save!!
Both have creative ways that people are "saving" for their Disney trips.

If you want to try a savings challenge, check out this thread
52-Week Savings Challenge
*Note: I'm not a fan of the 52-week savings challenge, but some people find motivation in doing it. Not everyone follows the plan as it was originally proposed (some do it backwards, some do random amounts), but if it motivates you to put money aside in savings, it can't be that bad. I just find a steady savings plan to be a more sustainable option.

Above all else, dare to dream about that future trip. It can keep you working toward your goal.
